Mock up of the new Roadster Renovations rack. It looks pretty sweet, even unpainted. Dimensions are 36x15x4. Total rack weight around 10 lbs. That leaves 30 lbs. for goodies!
It will be able to be unbolted. It is secured on 3 points and on and off in 5 minutes with a couple of hand tools.looks great, is it going to be removable or permanent
Hitch ball will need to be removed. The main attaching bolt will go through the ball hole. We might make a version using a different connection method if there was enough response for it.Looks nice, will it clear the hitch ball if left on?
We may sell a companion waterproof bag of the same size that will attach to the rack. The rack doesn't extend past the side cases, so some natural protection will be there. In wet weather, something will be needing done. What we have done with the larger model is to put the more fragile items in the bike's cases, and our clothing and such on the rack. Able to carry much more stuff without dragging a trailer!a nice BIG MUD FLAP will be needed....
very nice job... cheers....

Don't know if you can see the offset by the tire, but the final positioning will avoid the fender area entirely. That is a substantial travel for the suspension going up. I will watch for the travel and positioning! Thanks for the heads up!Doc I also made a rack similar to yours. The problem with the placement is it's too far forward. When my rear shock bottomed out I broke the plastic under the license plate.

The one I had on my bike at Spyder in the Smokies was from Harbor Freight. It is 48" wide by about 20". I heavily modified it to make it manageable. It still is too wide for me and in order to reduce it further would require even more modification. I also have the aluminum model I use on our little Geo Tracker and was very disappointed that it uses plastic corners. Evidently, they thought that would be strong enough for most applications. I don't think so and I would never sell something to someone so poorly (in my opinion) made.Doc, you may want look at some of the CARGO CARRIERS that HARBOR FREIGHT has to offer...
may save you a bunch of time from building new... one may be adapted to your requirements...

wow! If you go if for any warranty repair I would remove the hitch beforehand. Otherwise, if it's noticed what happened, they may give you grief. That's what I did. I took the aluminum rack and cut it down. The weight of the Rack is about 6 pounds and the box weighs around 3 pounds. Then welded the seams and put it on the bike with a 3 point attachment.
The box is a "Really useful Box" brand that they sell at office depot. Strong enough to put a car on it.
The third pix is where I had to put stiffeners to the ball mount because it was bending.
