There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I'm proud to announce a new vendor to the site.:doorag:
GloRyder

I met Kurt from GloRyder.com down in Daytona Bikeweek. He's a neighbor of another member here Extracool . Richard called me up all excited about a new mod that he had :ohyea:and he said I just had to hookup with this guy and see them in person.

Funny thing is I contacted this company before I had my Spyder to see if they had a set that would work on our wheels. I saw them at a car show and thought those were the coolest thing and figured they would look great on the Spyder. At the time I didn't have a mesurment to give him but I said I would contact him after I got my Spyder. Well I forgot all about them but as luck would have it we crossed paths again. Kurt drove up from South FL to meet me in Daytona and we installed them in the Hess parking lot. :doorag:

Kurt asked what color I wanted and I decided to go with the white but knew after I should have went with the yellow. He said no problem and sent me a yellow set and I just love them. They are more amber than yellow and really look great going down the road. The driver can't see them but I did get a chance to see them when I went riding with my son the other day. :doorag:

Anyway I give this product a big thumbs up  and I'm glad Kurt decided to be a part of our little group here. He's a super nice guy and real easy to work with. This is not a new product but it is a new product for the Spyder. He had to make a special adapter to work with our wheels. It will work on the 6 spoke and the three spoke wheel. I will say it looks better on the three spoke because it lights up more of the wheel.

Here's a little video I just took of mine.

Those are really cool. Did you have to remove the wheel to install?

They don't have any information on their website about whether these are legal or not - or how to find out.

Call them.

I just installed these on BajaRon's Spyder and I did one side removing the wheel and the other side I did without removing the wheel.

Richard could tell you about FL and TN. They are legal here. You would have to check with your state or maybe GloRyder could tell you.

Sorry, Massachusetts riders:

No motor vehicle so operated shall mount or display a flashing, rotating or oscillating light in any direction...

-MGL, TitleXIV, Chapter 90, section 7.

I realize this is for while driving (same deal for undercarriage lights) and they should be fine while parked on display. I also realize that folks will probably write in and say "I drove right past a cop in MA with these on and he didn't say anything!" like anytime we have a legal discussion here...:D

GloRyder's got a real nice website; it'd be great if Kurt could list where they were/weren't legal for road use.

Love to hear from our LEO members here.

Lamont, does the photo cell get its light from the sides or the cap? I notice there are some holes in the cap face, thats why I am wondering...

These look pretty cool. I will be placing this on my wish list for sure.

I would say yes. The cap has a clear lens on the sides and the cap so it's waterproof. My guess is it will get the light or lack thereof from the sides because he has custom caps that don't let much light in from the caps.

A possible solution maybe to have a remote on/off built into the circutry like NMN's wizard kit.

This way if you are in, or traveling through a state where they are not legal, you can switch them off, and turn them back on when appropriate.

Greetings to all in the forum. My name is Kurt and I am with GloRyder.

First of all just wanted to send out another big thumbs up to Lamont for taking time out of his busy schedule and getting together with me up in Daytona. Bike week is always a blast. Thanks for all your help and support, and for the privilege of being a member/vendor of your awesome site!

We at GloRyder are very excited about working with Spyder Motorcycles. I remember Lamont contacting us over a year ago and inquiring as to whether they would fit a Spyder motorcycle wheel and it was the first time I had seen one from his pictures. I kept on the lookout for a Spyder to come to my neighborhood and when Richard (aka Extracool), pulled up on vaction next door with his tricked out Red Spyder I finally got my chance. With a couple slight modifications to our standard GloRyder we were able to create an adapter kit that fits easily into a standard Spyder wheel. So here we are. We will be dropping in to do what we can to answer questions you may have about our products, so fire away!

Thanks for your time,

Kurt

Not a remote but there is a switch on the unit. You have to pop the cover off (which is easily done) and flip the switch to off.

Well made and they look good even in the day time (no lights but the unit itself looks great).

I think it's one of those things that once you see one go by at night you'll want one. (well, 2, 1 for each side )

Any legal restrictions on wheel lights?

Probably in the top ten questions we get. Since this was the first question on it I will try to address and consolidate all the other questions on this subject in this one reply.

I would say if you want to be perfectly safe, and never take a chance of getting a ticket, don't put anything on your bike that will attract the attention of a police officer.

The simple answer is, there is no simple answer. That is because every state is different, and that goes for just about every City and County in every state.

Having said that, we have been in regular dialog with Law Enforcement from the early stages of design and development to understand what lighting is or isn't allowed on a vehicle and as "general rule" it comes down this;

No flashing lights on your vehicle period!
If extra lighting can be seen from the rear view mirror of the car in front of you, or the lighting can be seen by the car behind you, it can be considered illegal.

Blue or Red is generally a definite no-go no matter what. Though I do know people who have had GloRyders with these colors on for months or even years with no problems.

That is also why neon under body kits on cars (or motorcycles) which shine the light on the ground have been ticketed by some police officers. For that matter any extra visible lights, even the tiny blue inserts they put into the center of a red tail light, or a lit license plate holder, is ticketable. Next time you wonder about that, take a good look at an 18 wheeler rolling down the road lit up like the 4th of July.

We have designed GloRyder so that the light sits back inside the cavity of your wheel and is not seen directly from the front or back of a vehicle. Of course different wheels will vary. Nor does GloRyder flash, nor does the light directly shine outward. It is a warm glow that reflects back onto the wheel itself, not a bright flashing light. In fact we would like it to be recognized as a safety feature for vehicles approaching an intersection as it make you more visible especially on a motorcycle.

But as you may well know when it come down to asking will or wont I get a ticket none of this means anything. I think the fairest thing we have been told by law enforcement, and this was from a veteran Captain. "It is really comes down to the individual officer".

I think that will always be true no matter what you drive.

GR
