Sad news from Michigan...

Hello all my fellow Spyderlovers,

It is with a sad heart that I must report that we have lost a member of our Spyderlovers family.

Mike Such , or Someguy as he was known out here, passed away at his home over the weekend due to multiple organ failures.

Mike and I became fast friends after meeting up at Scotty's (Nancy's Toy) for a gathering. From then on we became riding buddies and rode and roomed on many trips to Spyderfest, Spyders in the Smokies and of course Lamont's BBQ's.

Mike was a character for sure.. as anyone who met him can attest to. He liked to be in the thick of things, joking and having fun... something we all need to do!

I'd like this thread to be dedicated to Mike and for everyone to share a funny story about Mike if you have one......

Thanks.

Wife and I met Mike on a ride through the Tunnel of Trees Ride in Michigan. A pleasure to meat and ride with. Our symphony goes out to the family and friends.

Sad news..!!

:pray:'s to family and friends. Though I never met him I know he was loved and many enjoyed having him around.....

We are so sorry to hear of this loss. SomeGuy was quite the character. We first meet him and Firefly (Dan) at Spyders in the Smokies and looked toward to our visits every year at Spyder gatherings. So glad we were at the same motel at Spyderfest last year and got to hangout with him and SomeGirl. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He will be be greatly missed.

I'm equally at a loss here. It sucks getting older and seeing people you care about pass on. Spent enough time with Mike - breaking bread and riding that he, among others were the only reason I cared to go to the rallies. That chance to hang out with him was worth the ride and time.

I forget the year, but we rode with Reggie and crew up to the Snake from Maggie Valley. After riding across that valley floor and riding up the other ridge we stopped at the top and waited... and waited... and waited for the others to catch up.

After a while we thought we heard the sound of Rotax's making their way up the hill so we decided to be funny and be caught in a full on romantic embrace by the others... Problem was that it wasn't rotax engines purring up the hill, but a gaggle of mixed Harleys and other bikes. Busted. We did that three times hoping to humor the group when they caught up... Pretty sure Flamingo Babe caught us wen she was coming down the hill from the opposite way.

We vowed that if we could plan it for the next ride, we'd hire a couple of "bikini models" to meet us at the top of the mountain with drinks, a table and chairs, and a deck of cards, so that when we were come across we'd be playing poker while getting back rubs by some scantily dressed girls and we's act like it was completely normal.

So long SomeGuy. You will be missed my friend.

SOMEGUY

:pray::pray::pray::pray::pray::pray::pray::pray::pray::pray: From me and Dee , He was a character in the Best sort of way. He will be missed

I had just gotten my Spyder and the Michigan riders were heading to Hell for lunch. Mike, Firefly and SpyderSteve were nice enough to meet me at a gas station and let me ride along with them. That was the start of a wonderful relationship with Mike. What a super sweet guy. He always had a smile on his face and his trademark tie dyed t shirts.

Like WackyDan said he was one of the people that you just really, really wanted to spend time with at Spyder gatherings. I will certainly miss him. My condolences to his family and to SomeGirl. RIP my friend you will be missed.

I've talked to Len and we've lost a few other Spyderlovers this year as well as Mike... so we'd like to have a simple memorial at Spyderfest for those we've lost.

Let's keep the memories of those we've lost alive.

Dan, really sorry to hear this. I know you two were very good friends. I met the both of you several times at Spyderfests and also Lamont's BBQ and enjoyed visiting with the both of you. Mike was always good for a lot of laughs. Just a real pleasure to be around.
Last year at Spyderfest, Seth talked me into running down the drag strip by myself for a couple of runs, since I had never done it before. After two runs on my own, and feeling a little more confident in myself, I pulled up to the starting line for another run by myself. Looking to my right, another Spyder pulls up along side of me. Thinking to myself, "now I'm in real trouble." We both take off together, and I did beat my competition. So coming down the return road, I was ahead of him. So we get back to the staging area, and Mike pulls up next to me and says "Larry, didn't know it was you, till I seen your plate." I said "Same here, I was just practicing, .......want to go again ??? So I will always remember Mike, for being my first competitor on the drag strip.
Then I raced Seth a couple of times, but I'm not saying how those came out.
Rest in peace, Mike, and prayers go out to your wife and your family.

This is Horrible News.

This has not been a good year.

First I lose a good friend in Larry (Littlebadwolf), then my beautiful wife Connie, and now Mike.

The last time I heard from Mike was after I had lost Connie. He told me he had lost his job but mentioned nothing of any physical complications. He did say we needed to get together, that there was a lot to talk about. Unfortunately I was so caught up in my own misery that encounter never took place.

RIP my friend.

FireFly, thanks for the news, sad as it is...

I first got to know Mike at Spyders in the Smokies. One night at Smoky's, sat at a table with Mike and four other quick witted people. Laughed so hard my stomach hurt the next day.

********

Everyone was staying at the Red Roof Inn in Gatlinburg for SITS. The Red Roof is up a steep hill, at the bottom of the hill was Smoky's. Good food and cold beer. Across the lane from Smoky's was a gas station with a cop waiting for 'someone who had imbibed' to get on their Spyder and drive off. If you were drinking, you walked up and down the hill.

Can't remember how this came about, but it was dark, Mike, RTGene and me were up at the Red Roof. We all were ready to go down to Smokies. Gene was going to ride. That left Mike and me to walk, until Mike came up with this wonderful idea. We can all ride down on Gene's RT!

Gene had his helmet on ready to ride. We didn't. Gene was sputtering about helmets, three people on a RT and how totally illegal this is. We piled onto Gene's Spyder and away we went. Gene about ready to have a heart attack.

We turned a corner going down and sure enough, there was the cop. A quick counsel and it was decided Mike and I would bail off before Gene got to the lights of Smoky's parking lot. Gene knew for sure he was going to get a big ticket, but it was his lucky day.

With Mike around, there was always adventure...
