There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The number came up in a NHSTA thread. They said 52,000 through 2013. The number never was disclosed publicly by BRP.
Doing a little math, thats 8666 per year for the first five years. Adjusting the numbers, I would say lower in the first year and then growing a bit as each year progressed.
Based on what we have also read, I believe that 2014 was probably a boom year--maybe 10,000 or so.
Total: That is 62,000 or so.
Its all speculation, but that would be my conservative guess.

8,666/yr to 10k/yr is a 15% increase in production/sales. I would doubt those numbers; but that is just me.
I would expect maybe a 5% increase at the most.
We all like our Spyders but we do need to be realistic.
Anyone else??????

Does that number cover ALL sales, North American sales, or just US sales. If the latter, remember there are three models, and 50 states, or 200 bikes per state. Oregon has 5 dealers, or 40 bikes per dealer - or 3 per month.
Knowing some states would sell more, and others less, some months more and others less - 10K is reasonable, especially for the introduction of a new model.
What surprises me more, is how well the resale value has held up (some may object to that observation) - I just sold my truck for a new car - I bought my truck at year end, with a 19% discount from MSRP, drove it for three years and lost 23% in depreciation.
I bought my last two wheeler at an 36% discount (delivered), and sold it with a 15% depreciation loss.
I bought my 2010 RT in 2010 used from another member at an 18% discount (delivered), and sold it in 2014 with a 12.1% depreciation loss.
So the Spyder value has held up well - obviously there were other driving factors behind the sales, but they do serve a point...

I only was trying to say that I feel that an increase of 15% in production/sales is too optomistic.
I've been sort of 'lurking' around Spyders for a number of years ( even though I am new to ownership ). It does seem to me that the major market is for 'older' people; and I definitely fall into that category.
I just do not see that amount of increase in production/sales; especially when more & more options ( AKA Slingshot ) are becoming available choices to the Spyder core market.
Maybe next New Year's Eve we can see who came closest. :thumbup:

I am guessing you will be able to find $ amounts for :spyder2:'s sold if you were to make a thorough search of published accounting information. Most of this information would most likely not include number of units sold (which most companies consider as proprietary information), and usually is not broken down by models and subsets within various models sold.
I think we are talking about 500 - 700 :spyder2:'s give or take, in a set of 62,000 or so. For me, it is not an amount worth arguing about.

I have had Spyders since 2011. I agree that with all the improvements in 2014 that it was probably a boom year and 10,000 would not surprise me. I know that I bought one of those 10,000 estimated Spyders and I am sure glad I did. I have a whole 75 miles on her and have already added a bunch of FARKLE to her. Now if it would just warm up enough for me to ride her. And I say this as it is snowing outside. We only get snow once or twice a year if lucky. Hell is freezing over.
