• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

battery tender

battery tender pigtail

hey nati. the install is pretty easy. drop the tail splashpan. remove the front left side panel, then the middle panel, then the rear left side panel that contains the left rear turn signal. you can nowsee your battery. connect the red terminal of the pigtail to positive terminal on the battery. connect the black terminal of the pigtail to the negative post on the battery. route the pigtail to a convenient location to plug in. don't let it get pinched under the seat. i let mine hang out between the seat and passenger handle. you might want to add a toothed washer to each battery terminal, they WILL stay tight.

Agree..!!

:agree: make sure you put the red (positive +) first then the black (negative -) next to avoid shorting or sparking...:lecturef_smilie:

On my RT I just plug the tender into the 12 volt DC connector in the trunk. It's on all the time and keeps the battery charged.

No panels to remove.

Here's a discussion about HF chargers. General consensus - you run a high risk of destroying your bike battery using a HF charger.

As mentioned in the linked article, the Harbor Freight float charger is marked not to be used on Gel batteries. I have a good name brand charger from Motorcycle Superstore I keep on the Spyder. But I do have a number of the $7 Harbor freight chargers I use on my equipment with lead acid batteries and have not had a single problem in several years of using them.

Who knows why the commenters and author had failures, but they were using them on lead acid batteries.
