Fox Vs Elka ??

Hi to everyone. I am thinking about upgrading the shocks on our 2014 RT Ltd.
I was wanting some advice from those who have made this upgrade.
How they liked them, what results they have, etc.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Fox is a very nice upgraded shock, Elka is better but at about twice the cost. Just depends on your budget and what your looking for.

I put the Fox shocks on an ST, great improvement!

And still had gas money to ride the rest of the summer. Lol

I put Elka stage 1+, and it made the world of difference in my ride! Was bottoming out a lot before and have never since! You feel a huge improvement on rough rodes. I also gained a bit of height in the front end ( about an 1") as stated above they are expensive, but you pay for quality and Elka has been making performance shocks for a long time! Plus John ( trooper) is fantastic to deal with if you have any question or concerns! Add a Bajaron bar and a laser alignment and the Spyder rides like it on rails! This is JMO and I know fox makes a good shock also.

Just ordered my Fox ones..

Hi, just placed an order for the original Fox Shocks as advertised on the catalogue. Did not want to put the Elkas eventhough they are bc of the warranty issue, insurance and crap like thar. Rather install the original and as listed on their catalogue than other. In México, they might say that the rear tail light does not work bc of the shocks...jajaja...Have already the BajaRon sway bar, pending getting TLT Alignment kit since in México I am SOL...jejeje:yes:

Thanks....

For all of the feedback. I have put on the Bajaron Bar and Bumpskid so far. The bar made a big difference.
Saving up my funds to make for a better riding experience. I am leaning toward the Elkas, but need to Balance Fuel and Performance and Farkle Costs...LOL Once again Thanks for all of your Input!!

I have the '13 RS-S which has the fox shocks, and I took it down to my suspension guru yesterday (he's done wonders with my last two road bikes) and he basically said the fox are not a good quality shock.

I upgraded to elka's on my 12 rt & they made a huge improvement. I got them from LEN- PITBULL Powersports back in June owners event.

TTC, curious which tuner you used for setting up the machine.

I would tend to agree with his opinion on FOX suspension. Some items are really good, while others are not that great.

I need to get off my butt and see about Ohlins again.

They aren't what they used to be, no doubt, but still a decent upgrade.

Arn't the stock shocks tokicos? I know the 14' shocks are Sachs which are supposed to be good, but they seem pretty soft...

Fox is huge. Bicycles, sleds, DOD, trucks / offroad buggies, and moto.

We run a FOX 40 Kashima fork on our tandem MTB and on the rear run a first series DHX 5.0 air. Both made in the USA and well sorted out.

I looked into Fox for my Tacoma, but just refused to pull the trigger, went with ICONs instead.

One problem is there is no way to know what they are making in Taiwan or China. I rebuild a bunch of Fox bicycle shocks and in my opinion they are maintenance intense and have known problems they don't fix. Almost a planned method to force rebuilds and keep the money rolling in.

I will rate Fox above WP suspension. That stuff is crap and takes a lot of work to finish what WP should have when they made it.

My guy in Brisbane, Australia :)

He loves Wilbers, I haven't used them before but they are available for the spyder :) He's not just trying to sell them to me, I didn't have them put in my bikes that he redid and they are great :)

All the best with his shim shuffle or new shocks if that is what you got. Based on your reply, it sounds like he did not install new shocks.

Regardless, unless you do your homework, the common dampers are still low end emulsion style, this includes both Fox and the Elka 1 series.

Consider also proper spring rates will be felt long before a rider notices poor damping qualities.

Again all the best with it.

I had no money to do it properly back then, but in my z1000 is a zx6 shock that has been revalved, different spring, and in the front the bike has a dummy fork, so he redid that with internals to match the other side after they were revalved to suit me. The bike is absolutely perfect. This bloke is held in the highest esteem by us Brisbanites :D
