Recieved my Kuhmo tire from Discount tire yesterday. I had to tell them it was for a 01 Tacoma. They called me the day after I ordered it online and asked me the same questions tha I sa on another post on here. 2 or 4 wheel drive, I said 2, Did the vehicle have 14 or 15" tires originally and I would have to put 36 pounds of air. Now going to the dealer for mounting for $100. Hope to get more life out of this tire than the Kenda.

What?????

I rode my 2014 Rt to Tire Discounters and told the manager what I wanted and why. He didn't have one in stock but had one a couple days later. I took the wheel in and he mounted the Kuhmo. 10 minutes and less than 1/2 the price of the Kenda crap. I let the dealership do the rear tire once on my 2010Rt. I watched them for 2 hours and 250 dollars. Never again... BTW our dealer will not mount any tire not purchased from them.

Good to hear..!!

you should be out on the open road soon...your mission, if you choose to accept, is to find out how much better this tire really is..!! :roflblack:

I receive my two tires I ordered today, bought them on EBay from discount tire. No fuss at all, all done on line. My local tire dealer can mount , I take the wheel off. This time I will try to remove the tire and install the new one at home just for practice. I have rim protectors and heavy duty tire irons.

By the way, a fellow rider that lives near buy bought one tire from me.

This will be my second Kumo, the first one showed little if any wear after 10,000 miles but it was not the best for wet roads. However, it seemed to show up after I did a lot of performance work I did so this time I will let it run stock and see if its any better. No fun towing a trailer at 60 mph then hydroplaning, loosing all control and crossing 4 lanes of the freeway to wind up on the shoulder.

My experience is similar to yours. I was pleased with the Kuhmo when it was new. I drove to Quebec on it and the wet performance was OK. I started noticing that it would not stick at about 7,000 miles. It's got about 10,000 miles on it now and I consider it unsafe to drive in the wet. On my way back from Missouri I was passing a truck at 70 mph and the back tire broke loose. That was a butt clenching moment. In hindsight I should have pulled it off at 7,000 miles when I first noticed a problem.

Mine has 9000 miles on it and it still handles in the rain without any issues, but if it starts I will replace with another as it handles so well and it still looks great.

I understand that BRP has gone back to a harder compound for the Kenda. Is this true and does it add longevity.

That is what I was told by my dealer when I had the rear tire on my 2014 replaced about two weeks ago. 8,600 miles on the OEM.

New tire discontinued, back to old stock number and harder tire compound.

I will let you know in about 10K miles. :roflblack::roflblack:

Just went to the BRP STORE. They have the 604 part number for the rear tire. They also indicate limited availability. They do not show the 2012 part nimbler.

I have 15000 miles on my current Kumho with no noticeable wear.. the last two lasted over 25000 miles each.. Haven't had anymore wet weather issues with them than the OEM tire or maybe less. And I would guess 50% of my riding this past summer has been in the rain

Maybe a dumb question, but I never see tire sizes posted...are the rear tires the same size on each model per year? Like an ST and an RT or is it different depending on model and package ?

They can say what they want to about the old version of Kenda, but from my experience none of their compounds for the RTS have been worth any thing. My '09 GS had 9500 miles on it and about 50% tread left on the rear tire. My '10 RTS rear tire was bald in the center at 7000 miles. My '14 RTS has 6500 miles on it and will be needing a new tire in less than 1000 more miles. JME

Not sure about them all, but the ST and the RT are the same size.

Kuhmo Tyres

Hi All I put Kuhmo tyres on all three wheels. The only problem I noticed was that the speedo used to read 3 kilometres under and because I couldn't get a 55 aspect ratio but a 60 ratio on the rear the speedo now is spot on. The Kuhmos are good and I don't notice any difference at all and I can drive quite fast and corner a bit on the heavy side. But nothing stupid. I find that they are quite good wearing. I was travelling 200km every week in one hit and it took 5 weeks for the **** to wear off the front tyres.
