There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2014 RT Ltd. Frunk release

I am sure this has been discussed at length on here and I did search and read many of the posts, but can't determine where things stand at this time. I am picking up a new 2014 RT from Pitbull and am trying figure out what the deal is with the electric frunk release is. Does the Spyder come with the electric actuator in place, but just no switch? Or does it come without and actuator and without a switch? Are these parts available (either OEM or aftermarket) so I can install them and make a complete system like I have on my 2012 RT? If the parts are available, can anyone supply the company that sells them along with the part numbers? Thanks in advance!!

I did not do this as I see no advantage to adding it. Easy peesy to just push down on the key and turn to open the lid and you can do it with the Spyder running.
To answer your question you can purchase all the parts needed from your dealer ( I think there is a kit that BRP sells with everything needed in it).

Though it is "Easy peesy" to use the key, I miss the convenience of the switch which is being brought back by popular demand on the 2015 models.

Little checking..!!

you can get the parts needed from brp, cheapcycleparts.com and aftermarket. Don't remember who but there was a post not long ago about completing an aftermarket install...

My 2 cents.....I questioned my dealer on the switch as my 2014 didn't come with one(standard on 2014 RT Limited)..I asked why mine didn't come with one since it is standard...I was told that there have been too many issues and BRP can't figure out what to do. I persisted and said I don't want to shut down the bike every time I want to open the front up. Silly me, I didn't know you don't have to shut it down. So, I figured I don't need an extra button to push when it's just as easy to push the key in and turn it.

Many different versions to the electronic frunk switch saga.

:ani29:: It was advertised as a part of the package--but I don't believe any 2014's were actually delivered with it. (small print--we reserve the right to make changes to specs. at any time).

:ani29:: There was some talk the switch was available through the BRP parts book--for a measly $99 bucks. I held off on mine.

:ani29:: Finally broke down and asked my dealer to order the switch. The order came back from BRP marked part discontinued.

:ani29:: Have not tried to do an aftermarket set up. Just use the key as I did on my 2008 and 2009 versions.

:ani29:: Why discontinued--I was told that it had to do with liability issues with being able to open the trunk while going down the road. Guessing that BRP was trying to avoid another "McDonalds too hot coffee" lawsuit.

Yup! This is going to the top of the list! :2thumbs:
I think that they moved it over to function as part of the foglight switch now...
