Tach stuck at 4k

Anybody have this problem:
Tach stuck at 4k, even with the motor off. 2012 RT.
Spyder performs normaly, but the tach is stuck at 4k rpms.

As long as you can up and down shift, the nanny is happy. I would ride until I could get to dealer to get fixed.

Your problem is a "new one" that I have not seen come up before. It sounds like a take to dealer if it does not "self fix."

Curious..!!

are we talking analog or digital or both..?? You can remove the lens cover and see if the needle is just stuck or pull the cluster and give it a shake if it is analog. If it is digital then you need it checked or replaced...:thumbup:

I have had my analog tach do a similar thing. It only seems to occur in very warm weather. The analog will indicate 4000, 5000 or 6000 rpm when the digital is reporting 1400 rpm at idle. And yes, it stays up after shut down as well. After the temperatures come down, everything returns to normal. I suspect the cover has expanded and is rubbing against the needle or pin. Other than a hincky needle, it has no other problems. I watch it with a sly eye, but keep riding.

We have seen a couple of reports of this, but not enough to call it a "trend".

Yes, happened to mine. The fix, an entire new cluster. Seemed ridiculous to me, but thats what they did. :dontknow:
