I believe the RT stereo is junk, all feedback wanted.

I don't particularly care for the way the fm sounds either. But if I'm going on more than a 30 min. trip I put my Siriusxm in the trunk via the 3.5 aux which sounds better. but I also changed the speakers to the JBL's like Blueknight and I noticed
there is sound dampening material in the speaker compartment sooo the sound viberates the plastic box.
and more bass = more vibration. jmho.
In a 75 F-100 I had a 50 watt amp and boxed speakers behind the seat made a big difference.

Still works for me.

The radio in my 2010 RT works great after I got the ground strap out from under the antenna hot feed where the dealer tech had installed it.:duh:

:gaah::dontknow::dontknow::dontknow:......It's the speakers ......I just returned from SPYDERQUEST and there are quite a few people from that event who can attest to the quality of the sound and the level of that sound that my new speakers can be played at........They are JBL - gto's 2 ohm speakers that cost me $100 for all four 2 mos ago..................If I turn the volume to MAX you cannot hear someone talk standing next to the Spyder ......Which is not to say this is how I listen to it ......just that it can..............Note: this was using an MP-3 player ....the FM is marginal at best......Mikeguyver :thumbup:

I believe you. I have good Focal brand speakers all the way around. I think that the location of the speakers is stupid, half the cone is blocked by that dam plastic, and I'm not talking the grill part. The rear speakers are way too far into the enclosure, why flush mount was a bad idea to Can Am, I have no clue.

Im looking at a complete custom enclosure in front to house an 8" speaker, and it will rest right over the existing plastic. Depending on the fit, I may have to cover the fuel and coolant gauge, but they suck anyway. This was another think with the 2010 I found, is that the magnets in the speakers, especial the 6.5 inch I have actually won't even allow the coolant gauge to move, so it's useless. The fixed this with the newer bikes, but surprised can am didn't notice in testing.

:dontknow::dontknow:...........Ray, did you get the GTO's ???? They are the 2 ohm model's.........and I don't know about any --sound dampening material--- the RT didn't have any and the speakers didn't come with any ? ? ?................And the only vibration I have noticed is when I play them at MAX volume and that is on the grills !!!!.............Those puppies are shaking THEM.......You could have $10,000 speakers in there , and at Max volume the grills are going to vibrate ...........This is Physics ......................I wish some people who attended SPYDERQUEST and heard mine would chime in..........Pierre ( Spyder TV ) did a piece on my RT , but He ran out of time and un-fortunately we didn't get an AUDIO on my speakers ..........Mikeguyver :thumbup:

I gave up on the speakers. Went with SENA bluetooth in my helmet and an upgraded set of headphone drivers installed. Was actually surprised at the audio quality of the factory radio and the SENA once I could HEAR it. Even pretty good bass response.

Oh, and the ipod connector for the sound is digital, not analog. The headphone jack connecotor is analog but there should be no noise present, its properly grounded and shielded.

The sound quality of high bit rate mp3 files played through a direct connect (30 pin connector) ipod is not audiophile but its better than anything you can actually hear on a motorcycle while riding.

The factory FM radio tuner is pretty lame I will admit. I seldom use it. I cannot stand listening to Sirrius XM. The overly compressed, low bit rate sound is awful. Yes, I CAN hear that while riding and its much worse in my wifes Escape. She like Sirrius for the talk radio, so I pay for it to keep mama happy. I won't subscribe in my truck.

Excellent INTEL...with the upcoming Snowbird season soon here, the South has the ability to solve the grumpy NJ people problem no matter our location. Enter the restaurant, engage some Johnny Cash or Hank Williams, maybe even Patsy Cline. Done, to the front of the line.

Being more serious though, and yes we listen to modern rock, 70/80 rock and yes Country also while riding. Long before the OP started this topic, I too found that the quality of sound suffered. Not bad at slower speeds or parked. But not great. At higher speeds on open roads, the sound quality could use help. I do not expect perfection, but truth be told, I let it play as much as possible for the wife, but when the music becomes less clear, I take the exhaust note over music.

I do need to get the sound of the music better, just not sure what approach beyond speakers.

As has been mentioned by others, I don't need brutal loud or pinnacle quality.

I am curious though...the 30 pin MP3, or what other devices besides an Ipod are available as 30 pin.

Bob, are these the ones you mention? Without taking this wrong, what makes them "special" to be better. I ask, because I do not see much more than as you mention a step up, plus plug and play. Overall though, a pretty basic speaker I believe, with low ohms and high power capability. Again simply asking, not knocking it since I have not heard it.

Obviously, plug and play is a big deal many times for a lot of people.
