• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My dealer has 2014 Rt models reduced quite a bit below MSRP. For example he has the 2014 RT-S SM6 in Cognac or Pearl White for $22,000 and the RT-S SE6 also in Cognac or Pearl White for $23,500. He also has two RT Limiteds one Silver Platinum Satin w/Black Seat and the other Pearl White for $26,000. The dealership is American Powersports in Findlay Ohio.

Getting Tempted

At $4,500 to $4,550 off MSRP that's pretty darned tempting. I still owe about $1,700 on my Victory yet but that can be paid off quickly. I just need to look up the Kelley Blue Book and NADA values for my bike so I know if I'm being low balled or not. There is a friend of mine in the American Legion Riders who might be interested in buying it outright from me so I might make out better that way. The extra safety of the Spyder appeals to me.

I Didn't Wait

A week ago I saw on the web a dealer 80 miles away had exactly what I was looking for, a '14 Cognac RT-S at $22,988. The Secretary of Defense said, "Jump on it." Now I'm just waiting for the accessories to arrive. In the meantime SecDef gets her 50th anniversary trip to HI. A Win-Win all around!

I've seen internet prices roughly $2,000.00 lower by a few dealers for some models of RTs. I often wonder about "creative financing" when you arrive at the dealership. From my experience, these are "cash" prices. Having a trade complicates the issue.

I haven't seen any of the local dealers with prices that low on the up scale models, and some of the dealers aren't offering any discounts at all. Either they are selling enough to keep themselves happy, or they could care less about Spyders.... Let's hope its the former...

Unfortunately, that is the price we pay for driving the newest and best. I figure a $4K hit this first year on mine when all is said and done. BUT--I have 8,000 fun miles on it so far. Paid cash, so no upside down on loans or anything like that.

I plan to keep this one, so the depreciation will even out some in subsequent years.

But had you waited; just think of the missed riding opportunities!
I'm thankful for every moment of every day that I'm on mine!

*Priceless...*

My procrastination frustrated the local dealership where I test rode the RT-S but told them I was flat going to wait for an end of year deal and take my chances on my 1st choice color. I subsequently gave them the opportunity to match the 80 mile away dealer and never heard a response. My win!
