There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have 2; Bell Mag-9 Sena and a Can Am ST-1 with the jaw piece. I use the ST-1 in cooler weather and the Bell in warmer. The Bell has a longer front shield and is a little lighter, the St-1 (mine) has a shorter front shield that matches to the jaw/face piece. I use a Sena comm system and the Bell has a indent that the Sena clips into. Nice addition to the Bell.. Hope this helps a bit:2thumbs:

I hear you loud and clear:bowdown::bowdown:But trying to sell this to people is like pushing a rope uphill. You can try! But not many takers.
Same with riding gear. You're cooler (in very hot weather) with a mesh jacket and pants than you are with a T-Shirt and shorts (again, as long as you're moving). And again, less fatigue and dehydration. Not to mention sun burn (which for this pastie white guy is always a concern).
I will keep preaching, to a very small congregation!

Full face modular for the road and weather protection. It definitely helps eliminate the wind noise for bike-to-bike communications, too. My wife switches between a half helmet and a 3/4 with a full face shield. It's pretty much nothing but wind noise from her with the half helmet at anything above 45 mph or so. The 3/4 is better, but there's still a fair amount of wind noise. She called me yesterday when I was riding home from work, and she didn't even know I was on my bike, and I was cruising down the highway!

I'm too independent for that. I'm pretty disabled (two limbs mostly paralysed, the other two slightly), but I like doing things myself. In the last month I've done two trips, one of 400 miles and the other 500, both on my own with just my Can-Am assistance card for company. The thought of asking a total stranger in a petrol station or Costa to help me tuck my ears in just fills me with horror!

Ever since I read this, last night, I've been going crazy :yikes:, trying to find where I saw a video of a new type of full face helmet . . . the rear opens and you push your face into it, then close the back . . . I can't remember where I saw the video . . . :banghead:, here, or facebook . . . I'll keep looking.
Does anyone else recall seeing that helmet. :dontknow:

I typically wear my G-Max modular helmet. It is by far the best bang for the buck as far as helmets go and it matches the color of my Spyder. I use to wear a Scorpion full face, but I like the ability to open the face on the modular. I also have a G-Max 3/4 in the same color, but tend to wear the modular more often. My wife likes the 3/4 more.

I collect helmets the way some women collects purses & pumps. My usual go to helmet is a Shoei full face modular (that matches my titanium 2011 RT) for long hauls, but for short jaunts (less than 100 miles) I'll pick from my stable of Arai full face (racer replicas), HJC shorty, or Shoei 3/4 with full face shields. I confess that I sometimes will choose a helmet that matches the color of clothes I'm wearing that day. (Hey, can't help it cause I'm female! BUT, I've got more helmets than purses, so there!) I always have an extra helmet in the frunk; if I'm wearing a full face, then a shorty is in the frunk & if I'm wearing a shorty or 3/4, then the full face Shoei is in the frunk. I live in the Houston, Texas, area and enjoy year round riding weather, however the heat & humidity here during the summer months often have me going for one of the "less than full face coverage" helmets. Although my Shoei full face modular is a bit heavy, it is super comfortable and so convenient to just flip up the front instead of completely removing the helmet when stopped for gas.

Yeah I've seen it mentioned here and I've visited their website. If it ever makes it to full production, I'll be straight in there! In the meantime I keep trying on helmets in the hope I'll find one I can use. I do have a full face off road type, but I really struggle with the goggles and it's loud and let's the rain in...not ideal :-(

Hopefully by the years end, or very early next year, these awesome new helmets will reach our shores.
Love the strapless design. Just the shape and idea, are cool.

WE are currently testing for DOT, ECE and AS/NZ external standards.
The helmet has passed all physical tests and we are now discussing the wording of the standard with authorities in respect to our retention system having no chin strap.
We are hoping to resolve these issues soon and are planning to release Globally end of 2014.

We wear Scorpion full face, great features like flip down sun shield and great venting. Plus they come in Hi-Viz and 3X

I use a modular helmet, the Schuberth C3 Pro. I do a lot of photography and the modular makes it easier. I think that the Schuberth is an exceptionally safe helmet.

Long Oval issue
Unfortunately, I am limited to options for helmets when riding. I have only found two helmets that fit a "long oval" melon, like mine. I'm 6'-0", 230lbs and have a 7-7/8" hat size. In all helmets, that's a 2xl all day long. The first one by Arai, called the signet-q and the second is the Shoei rf-1100 or rf-1200. Both of these helmets are full face and expensive (who cares though). If you are a UClear user, the Shoei has ear hole depressions perfectly sized for the microphoneless technology.... bonus. Considering the weight, heat, and appearance of the full face helmet, I honestly would not wear another style of helmet because of the safety factor. After being in a high side accident, and actually getting hit by a car (yes, off the bumper, then hood and onto the ground), I managed to keep my head and face protected from certain reconstructive surgery. Although my ribs, lung, shoulder blade, shoulder joint and back didn't get so lucky, my head survived with no concussion or broken facial bones. The helmet definitely had a few dents in the skull and chin guard, not to mention a nice scratch across the shield. In hind sight, I'm glad I was forced to pick the Shoei helmet which forced me to choose safety and protection before I picked a "Harley-style" or "cool" helmet. I will only buy Snell rated helmets from now on... Regardless of the cost and regardless of whether or not I have a spyder. Your biggest and most important investment should be the helmet... So choose wisely and choose safety over anything else.
