2013 RT Temperature

Took this reading after riding for about 1 & 1/2 hours. The thermometer is in the hole that the seat peg attaches to. Would BRP consider this "normal"? I mean come on this is freakin' HOT. My RT needs an air conditioner. This type of temperature is what comes out around the front of the seat. Good thing I have all of the children that I will ever have 'cause I don't think that this temp is conducive to producing more. HELLO BRP are you READING these posts? Come on, find a fix & make it right. Don't dump any more 2013's on the market and drive down prices to the point where Owners would be like owning a house that is "upside down". That is what you are doing to us, IMHO. BTW the temp today was 72.4 degrees.

that's what the asphalt reads around here on a 90* day. The dirt in my yard gets up to 170* on a hot day...I know I have been removing sod and replacing it with rocks. :dontknow:

Nothing other than wrapping the pipes & the ECM update. Didn't help much with the heat, but I don't get the gas smell anymore.

My un-educated guess... is that you need a bit more airflow through the Tupperware! :thumbup:
Have you tried pulling the bottom pans off? It might help... :dontknow:
And it's reversible! If you don't notice an improvement; just pop them back into place.

Not sure you can "pull the bottom pans" on a "13". You can drill holes, but I don't think you can pull them. I could be wrong.

Well, I figured that if I'm gonna be on the "hot seat" my Avatar should at least look the part. Maybe the next one will be a turkey as bscrive suggested.

Some folks in here have pulled them...

...and some have drilled them!
No doubt; it's not nearly as easy to store them on a shelf, as the 2010-2012 models were!

Just a suggestion that if you are really looking for more air flow in that area, then pulling the stock airbox and going with an aftermarket replacement will make a big difference as well. I weighed the stock airbox and resonator after I pulled mine and it is a total of 11 lbs and takes up a stupid amount of space. The other added benefit is that it opens up so much area on the upper part of the engine, that it makes maintenance so much easier as you can now access the spark plugs and anything else you need to get at on the upper part of the engine. Air will also actually be able to move through the upper vents. Removing or drilling holes in the lower pans helps as well. I drilled holes in mine.

Here's an idea that might not be workable... what the heck!!

You've got those black panels on each side of the bike down by your feet.
Why not see if they can be removed, and the bike still be ridden without other parts flopping around or falling off?
It couldn't hurt to give it a look...
