Here's what I have for an alarm....
I installed a SPY Motorcycle alarm and works fine. I only use it in certain situation when deemed necessary.

I bought mine (March 2014) when they had it for sale at $89.99...check Ebay with maybe other suppliers of the same alarm...make sure it has the microwave sensor.
I don't use the auto start of shut down. I just use it for a deterrent for people to NOT mess with my Spyder or sit on it. The microwave sensor was placed under the seat so if they are on it there or near that area, it will sense it and the alarm will go off. It also has a shock or motion sensor.
I've used it a few times.
Pro's:
It works for me for what I use it for.
It is cost effective.
It has two remotes that lets you know that something is going on if it alarms. The remotes allow to to arm and disarm it.
It does connect into your wiring fairly easily if you have your wiring diagram. It flashes your turn signals and sounds a loud alarm when it goes off.
Con's:
It "churps" three times to let you know to set it every time you shut your Spyder off -- this got annoying to me ....so I installed a rocker switch (located under my seat) to turn the power off to the alarm when I don't use it...super easy fix....The alarm should have had that option initially.
The documentation is terrible.
Understanding the remote function and how to set them can take awhile with the poor documentation.
Harleys or loud vehicle tend to set-off the alarm due to the vibration of the sound....I think I need to set it a little less sensitive (just need to figure out how to do that with those :cus: instructions!).
Hope this helps...there are many to choose from.
BTW...alarm works! I had my Spyder parked outside with the travel cover on and the alarm set for overnight parking. I got an alarm at 5am and was notified with my remote in the bedroom. I went immediately out to see what was going on....I saw a cat running away. Checked it later that morning when taking the travel cover off, sure enough...there were cat paw prints on the seat -- the motion sensor caught it! Thankfully, no claw marks when the cat was scared out of its mind when the alarm went off -- I'm sure the cat jumped straight up and then out!:roflblack:
