• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Tire balance issue with my new 14 RTS

I have been noticing a lot of shaking on the left hand fender, way more than the right side. So today while at the shop I pulled the front wheels and run them on my wheel balancer machine, both are out! The left wheel has 12 segments of weights (unmarked) so I removed them and started bare. That wheel ended up needing 3 - 1/2 oz. segments. The right wheel had 6 segments of 3/4 oz. weight. That wheel ended up with 4 - 1/2 oz. segments. I'm not sure how much the unmarked segments weigh but just doing the math you can see the wheels were not balanced properly.

After picking up my new ride, I went to Vermont from Taxachusetts and coming back I noticed the left fender shaking a bit. When I got home I checked the fender mounting bolts, and sure enough they were loose. Just a thought.

That's not the first we have heard of crappy balance on the fronts. Seems to be most common on the 15" wheels of the 13'-14' machines??

I also balance my own stuff. One side was out 1 oz. The other was good. Stripped both, accomplished a dynamic balance as opposed to the static balance of oem. All shakes are gone.

Road force balancing was a hot topic a few weeks ago.

My dealer said the '14's had some bad tires. About 1 in 10 had a tire on the front that was bad. Maybe it is actually the balance that is not correct and not bad tires.

My dealer replaced both front tires before delivery per BRP. He said the same thing that there was some bad tires floating around.

When i redid my wheels last week, i road forced the wheels & my radial run out was only 6/1000th, i had 1.5oz on 1 wheel &
1.75 oz on the other. i know from doing road force it is the radial run out that really matters not just the amount of weight on
the wheels.
P.S. i have 2 road force machines, we do a lot of r.f. balancing for cars.

i have a 2014 RTS also with only 400 mile on it. The front end starts to shake badly at about 45 miles an hour scars the crap out of me! but i'm getting used to it I'm now thinking I have a tire or tires out of balance. what are using to balance your tires?
What are the wheel lug bolts torked to.

I have a Snap On balancer. I picked up a box of stick on black wheel weights. Accomplished a dynamic balance with weights in side and outside the wheels centerline.

Torque...I don't remember. I would need to research it again.

77 Is the torque & for balancing i will only do road force on my :spyder2: because i can test the load on my tires & check the run outs too.

The "me too" thing is hopefully a glitch. At this point, "me too" is a waste of time and not worth any effort.

If the person did this for a reason, he can search if needed...

There is a ton of threads on this subject already. I know my issues I had was after I had some miles on my spyder and ended up being defective tires. Check what the date code of the tires are on the sidewalls....usually says 2014 then two digits which are the week. The early 2014 tires have known to be bad and BRP was supposed to start a campaign on them but still haven't seen anything about it yet released.

A proper road force balance may be able to check if the tire has a problem by checking with a load on the radial runout
