2012 RTS-SE5-Vacuum Lines leaking-how many others have had this too?

Just was curious how many others have had problems with vacuum lines leaking and causing performance issues on their 2012 RTS-SE5.

I was out riding and my Spyder started to act like it was going to die between 2nd and 1st gear on downshifts and upon throttle up from a stop, it was sputtering.

Took it in to the shop and found one vacuum line was cracked terribly. Never sent codes never left me stranded but was told apparently this is happening to quite a few that the quality of vacuum lines are not the best. Was also told Ethanol fuels also leads to this issue as this line was one that had to do with evaporative issues. They replaced the bad line and a duplicate line that did NOT have any cracks or breaks in the line as a precaution.

Just curious to how many others with 2012 RTS-SE5, have also experienced these issues. Mine only has a young 3900 miles on it and stored inside of a barn.

Thanks!!!!

High heat exposure and low end rubber hose

Fairly common. Best to replace them with silicone hose. Can be purchased on amazon or some automotive stores carry it.

I am having the exact same issue. Where are these hoses and how hard to replace on a 2012 rtl. Any step by steps out there?

Look up vacuum hose it will have pictures there are 2 ,3 inch hoses on the left side you will have to take off the upper left cover under the the gas cap they are on the left side of the thottle body.

all the time

my 2012 rt is in the shop every time I ride for a while . dealer just keeps replacing them.....I told the about the silicone ones and
they said they have to use what BRP recommends .so until my warranty runs out its their problem. its a bunch of horsesheet!:banghead:

So you are going to continue putting up with all this aggravation over about $2 worth of hose? My time is far more valuable than that. And I just spent more than that in time typing this message to you.

Looked at the pic's in the previous thread but from what I can tell both pic's are pointing to the same hose. I thought there were 2?

There are, they are very close together and about the same length. When you find one, the other will be obvious. No fittings, the hose just pushes on the barb on both ends.

Thanks! Guess I need to purchase these when I pull the panels off to wrap the exhaust and tape the panels.

The shop manual states that these hoses are of "calibrated length" and substitution should not be made. I'm not saying don't substitute a better quality hose but this warning should make everyone pay special attention to getting their substitute hose as close as possible to the length of the original OEM hoses.
