There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Helmet Laws

Just passing along the information as posted by the AMA.

Washington, D.C.: A new recommendation for universal motorcycle helmet laws by a task force of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is based on faulty reasoning, American Motorcyclist Association reports.
The Community Preventive Services Task Force recommendation is based on studies of U.S. states and foreign countries that require all riders to wear helmets, those that require only minors to wear helmets and those that have no helmet requirement. The CDC task force produced no study of its own and cited no detailed analysis of crashes and fatalities to adequately assess the role of helmet laws in preventing serious injury or death in crashes. Instead, task force members merely looked at other studies and drew a generalized conclusion.
The AMA has long advocated the voluntary use of helmets, but opposes mandates because helmets do nothing to reduce the likelihood of a crash.
The AMA strongly encourages the use of personal protective equipment, including gloves, sturdy footwear and a properly fitted motorcycle helmet certified by its manufacturer to meet the DOT standard. However, adults should have the right to voluntarily decide when to wear a helmet. The AMA does not oppose laws requiring helmets for minor motorcycle operators and passengers.
A complete statement of the AMA's position on universal mandatory helmet laws can be found here: www.americanmotorcyclist.com/Rights/PositionStatements/VoluntaryHelmetUse.aspx.

....but
1. What color?
2. Full face, modular, or what?
3. DOT, Snell, both, neither?
4. Bicycle helmet ok?
5. Maximum noise level?
6. Bluetooth ok or dangerous?
7. Eye protection included in helmet?
8. Insurance company requirements (options)?
9. Graphics ok, or solid colors only?
10. Helmet must match bike color?
....just askin....

Never ending..!!

this has been going on since the day Johnny put a kitchen pot on his head hit a fence post and only got a black eye...:roflblack::roflblack:

Helmets

I do wear a helmet, but for you that don't' I feel it is your choice. It's the same as Johnny jumping off the cliff. If you want to jump, go ahead ! I will say that my helmet sometimes is bothersome, but I think I would like to keep what little brain cells I have left in there. Just my opinion. Thanks

Everyone can do whatever they wish. I personally will continue to wear a helmet unless someone passes a state law that says you can't. :yikes: Besides, how else can I use my Bluetooth. A lot of states have passed laws that say you can't use ear buds,

While I believe it should be a right to choose, unfortunately the issue is bigger than that. People who make dumb decisions (even if it is their right to do so) become a drain or burden on an already fooked society....

don't wear a helmet, get in an accident, become a vegetable, plant you in my mom's garden watered every other day.
Now really what if insurance companies just charge more & give you the option that way you are covered & my tax dollars don't pay for you the rest of your crippled life.
P.S. you don't qualify for handicap parking since stupid is not a handicap but a choice.

The problem with this whole idea is, who decides what is right and what is wrong. I wear Agatt and believe in helmets. Used to get DD 578 decrepency reports for wearing a helmet in USAF uniform in the 50"s. Helmet saved my head in a racing crash in the 50's.
Wearing or not a helmet and hitting a wall at 150 is not going to make much difference. The same with smacking a curb face first at 35. Will they help in most cases, Yes.
But I get sick and tired of people saying I have to do this because they want me to. A few years ago, I think it was EPA, (Joan Claybrook) but may have been CDC, wanted seat belts on all motorcycles, Then backwheel steering. AMA fought and finally won those battles.
As somebody esle said, this manditory helmet thing has been around for years.
Many battles have been fought over the years for motorcycle rights. I forget who (some goverment agency) wanted motorcycle limited to 250cc and only allowed on city streets with a max speed limit of 35MPH.
Please consider this all when you advocate manditory anything, slippery slope.

The US Constitution says that the Federal Government cannot assume authorities that the Constitution does not explicitly grant. Please show me again where the Constitution grants the Federal Government the authority to mandate the use of helmets. My goodness, if you want a federal helmet law, first change the Constitution - but don't just ignore the Constitution!

Not arguing one way or the other, but I believe they would say that it comes under the clause "provide for the common good". That's a clause they've fallen back on a number of times in the past to "take over" certain things.

...

Seriously? SEAT BELTS on MOTORCYCLES???? (You can't legislate common sense when the legislators don't have any!)

and second question: How would back wheel steering help any thing, except create business for tow trucks, ambulances, and the like?
