• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Poliaris Slingshot

Looks interesting enough to take a look, at least, & maybe more. I have two Spyders and a Goldwing. Who know what might find itself on the auction block...

What's up with releasing stuff so late in the riding season? They're not the only ones, BMW does it also.
When I opened the web site for the Slingshot, the title on the windows tab indicated "2015 Polaris Slingshot".

THIS NEW TOY

:yes::yes::yes::yes:......My motto has always been, " WHEN YOU DIE - THE ONE WITH THE MOST TOYS WINS "....:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:....So I am looking for a dealer that has one for me to test drive ......:gaah:  :clap: ...........Mikeguyver

?????????????????????

:agree:.................Lin in Sept./Oct of 2014 when you open the Website for BRP Spyder ........the tab will indicate " 2015 Spyder RT , ST, RS etc. "..............IMHO, Mikeguyver

I like the SlingShot. I'm not sure I would buy one but I like it. The price is better than I expected. I don't really think its in the same "space" as the Spyder. It's more like a car than a motorcycle. I'd say it may compete with an RS/RSS but not an ST or RT. I did sign up for a test drive. Probably drive my Spyder to the test drive. :)

Here is what I REALLY like about the SlingShot. I think its going to force BRP to change up their thinking on the RS/RSS Spyders. The SlingShot shows what a fun sucker the over protective nanny is on the Spyder. The Polaris version of the nanny gives the driver/rider more fun freedom than the Spyder version. The Polaris version can also be disengaged. BRP is going to have to lighten up the nanny controls and make it able to be disengaged if they want the Spyder to win over a potential SlingShot buyer. Also, look at the touchscreen package on the SlingShot. Far and above the gauge package on the Spyder. Don't forget the power. 173hp. No reason BRP can't drop more power in the RS and RSS versions and again I'd say if they don't the Spyder is not going to win over a potential SlingShot buyer.

Not sure what the 2015 RS, RSS holds for changes but if it doesn't have more power and less nanny the RS/RSS buyer might be moving to a SlingShot? I think a leaning RS/RSS in 2015 would help bring a buyer to a Spyder over the SlingShot as well.

Things might get interesting over the next couple of years...............

I like it looks petty neat to drive , don't think I would buy one but may half to migrate to the Polaris dealer to check one out

I really like the look of it. I could see this being a lot of fun. I will definitely be test driving one, but nothing will take the place of my spyder!!

A winner

It's not a competition ploy by Polaris to the Spyder at all............but at $19,999 base MSRP, 175hp, open world feel (unlike T-Rex with roof), and produced by a "major" manufacturer who's credibility is high in terms of R&D, my friends this thing is gonna sell like hot cakes....

(Depending upon which State you're in...)
It should be insured and licensed as a motorcycle.
With a much lower "new Vehicle" cost, than an ST Limited, and RT-S, or RT Limited; it might not be as bad as you think... :dontknow:

But since insurance companies will be VERY cautious with how they price for it; it'll take a while for te market to calm down, and reach an acceptable premium level for it.
My own personal opinion; is that this vehicle is going to expand the market for trikes to previously untapped regions of the market. Those folks probably won't have the biking experience that a lot of us have, and you'll see a spike in the number of claims for a while...

NOW THAT I'VE DONE A BUNCH OF RESEARCH

:2excited:........Well guess what Bob, I think I can put a re-movable " T " top on this thing and a HITCH for towing the trailer .......I think the steering wheel needs to be more open, so you can see the gauges better.....a fold-able windscreen for some really inclement weather .....and a heater wouldn't be hard to do either ......to extend the season.............I am researching Tires now :2excited:....Mikeguyver .......and you actually have to sign up for a test drive :hun: :yikes:

Definitely see your point there.

I also think that when introducing a new model like this companies are very cautious with horsepower. There gonna give it "just enough" to have some fun factor but governed down to see how the public responds to it safety wise. After a good 5 years of no big issues, I believe they'll start opening up their reserves on putting out 200+hp versions.
