• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Windshield mount screws

I had one of the screws holding the windshieldmount brake off and I understand that there are others out with this same problem. My dealer can't get them as there is a new type on back order right now. Hasanyone else had this problem??

Are you talking about the small screw with the large pan head?
These are the ones that screw into the brass sleave that mounts between the motor arm and the windsheild bracket. I had one of those break when I was removing the windshield.

YEP....................
There are new ones that replace the old ones.

It took a week to get my replacement Screw and Pin. I had to replace the pin also as the screw body was still in the old one.:banghead:

2012

so i've been thinking about taking my windsheild off to replace whatever rubber pieces hold the windshield tight, seems like it's getting looser and looser, but if the pins are likely to break i might do well to get the screws first? mines a 2012 RT

It is the screws that will break, one side of each one is locktight in and the other one is put in at assembly and then they break as these are the cheap kind.

I had the same problem -- the screw head sheared off. The dealer had to drill out the rest of the screw and replace it.

Huh. My sister and I have had our Spyders less than a month, and we both have had this problem. Surely it would not cost BRP so much more to buy screws made from a stronger material. Sheesh.

OMG, I thought this was just a one chance thing on my Brand new RT.

I noticed it after I brought it home.... So I drilled out the bad end, used an easyout to remove the sheared screw and replaced both with screws from the hardward store with locktite and replaced. SHouldn't have that problem ever again. I didn't want to bring it back to the dealer and find out it was a backordered part and then wait weeks for a fix. While looking at my Hardware store, I could have replaced the brass bushing and screws easily anyway, they had everything I would have needed but only picked up the correct screws. I have a mini shop at my dad's who has every tool made and machinery to make if needed... "lol". where there is a will there is always a way!

but WoW, this is definetilyl a problem BRP!!!

Rich,
Can you make the proper parts out of a tougher material? :dontknow:
It sure seems as if a market for them is growing?
Unfortunately! :gaah:

Yep you can.....

Bob, you absolutely could!! You could use a stainless steal bushing, but the real culprit here is the screws that BRP uses!! they are rediculously cheep!!!! :gaah: I work for a company that builds Commercial and military Jet Engines thru out the world. It blows my mind that the buyers in my business constatntly try to reprice and buy cheaper material. Including screws!!!! if its cheaper, a company will buy it. Even the ones going into aircraft :dontknow:
