There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Are fog lights worth the price?

My wife just bought a STL and I would like to put more lights on it. She had the BRP HIDs on her RS and she loved how they lit up the road. I have thought of putting HIDs on her STL but I thought that the fog lights might be the better way to go.

Any comments?

I use my foglights to help me BE seen...
What sort of price can you put on that?

Put them on her bike; you know that she'll appreciate them!

Well..!!

as a fog light no. As for a built to fit additional light..depends on the price you find. I bought the parts from cheapcycleparts.com. All but the lights for my RS cause I'm using the space for something else and I have additional fog and driving lights elsewhere. But you could check with them for a better price as well as ebay...shine on..!!

Thanks for reply Bob,

By the time I am finished with the lights on her bike she will be seen no problem but what she wants is to have the road lit up better.

Brian

I'm in the same boat. Had the HID lights on my RS and they were phenomenal. Now I got an st and the lights are okay. Better than stock rs lights but nothing like the HID lit rs.

Instead of fog lights I would go with replacing the front fender reflectors with lights. TricLED makes them an they are pretty easy to install. It isn't easy to see the fog lights, they are very low and don't add much during the daytime.

Hi Brian,
As lighting for the roadway; they're a bit limited in their usefulness.
They throw lighting; low, and wide. They're good for spotting deer in the weeds...
But they throw nothing downrange that's useful!
But then; that's a different type of narrow purpose lighting! :D

I had the fog lights and I took them off. A waste of time and money, IMHO. They do very little in the way of lighting the road. A good set of HID's will give you way more actual benefit at a much lower price.

The HID's are impressive, the fog lights will hardly be noticed.

I saw those fender lights at TricLED Ann. We will be getting those for sure.

Anyone know of a HID for the ST? Doesn't look like BRP sells anything.

I don't recall anyone saying they installed HIDs in an ST. Xenon Depot appears not to be a site sponsor any more. They do not list a kit for ST. In fact they have no listing for anything after 2012. They do have kits for H4 base bulbs and I think that is what our STs are. Because the ST bulbs are dual filament I am reading that special HID bulbs are needed that have a servo that moves the filament from low to high aim.

So it looks like we need a guinea pig. Hint, Hint :joke:

They still have that "all orders have been processed" thread going. It is a H4 and you'll need a dual filament bulb. Not sure how they work. I'm scared to mess with the headlights on mine after the hell I went through trying to put an aftermarket kit on my RS nojoke

I love the fog lights on my RSS but honestly since I installed the BRP HID kit I very rarely turn them on the HID lights drown them out.

Not sure about ST but since those head lights are physically bigger imagine the light would be dramatically increased.

I thought about doing the fogs, using white LED bulbs to match the OEM HIDs. Not for addition lighting to be able to see, but as additional lighting to be seen...
The fogs do look nice and integrated on the spyder.....

Yeah they do I like the extra light , LED's are a good idea not really as powerful but would match the HID's

Have had the HID's on my 2008 and Fog Lights on all the rest of the Spyders. Installed them on the 2011, but they came on my versions of the 2010 and 2014.

The HID's were so bright that I ticked off people. Had one guy in a truck do a quick stop in front of me and he proceeded to get out of his truck and wanted to start something. I drove off quickly.

Never had a problem with the fog lights. They are not as bright, but you are still seen by oncoming traffic. I would vote for the fog lights. Cost $399 vs. about $1000. Another good reason.

Really! A Grand for HID's? I think I have less than $200 in my set.

You have to be sure you've got them adjusted right. The HID's are very bright and if set too high they will really upset people.
