windshield bracket

I have a 2011 rt limited the windshield bracket broke at the end of my warrenty got it replaced but had to pay labor it lasted less than 6 months was replaced with the same part no i bought the second one from ebay from a wrecked spyder not used very little only had 3000 miles on the bike it broke 2 weeks ago now here i am faceing a new 600.00 dollar part makes 3 times tried welding it but its a formed metal wont hold looks like brp would have recalled these brackets i have talked to so many owners that have had the same problem i love the spyder but things like this really makes you rethink trading again oh well my luck.

Little checking..!!

Blueknight is working on the problem but prior to the break. I think you could epoxy it back if you fill in the hollowed out spaces with JB Weld. I used to mix in aluminum shaving to repair engine cases and case covers and it worked well. :dontknow: if I had the broken one I could fix it...

i made a brand new bracket out of aircraft high grade alumium 1 in wide by 3/4 thick michined and welded it together looks good and works good but windshield must have gotten out of calibration light came on and brake quit working

don't know what the windshield has to do with lights and brakes but some wires may have been messed up..sounds like you have the arm problem solved have a picture of this handy work..?? :2thumbs:

I don't know how the windshield could affect those systems...
But it probably is set up to move within a VERY specific set of parameters...
If it's a bit out of place on the shafts or splines dontknow; it could cause something to notice it!
Is there a way, that you can take another look at how you've got it set up?

:dontknow:...........Bob , on the end of the shaft ( that has the gear wheel attached ) there is a plastic CAP (?) and inside that cap there is a strong MAGNET........(really).......it's there for a reason, I haven't figuered out exactly why yet.......but it may be some sort of trigger type mechanism (?).........

Admittedly; I've not had one apart... pps:
But if these's something going on after all of the dis-assembly; I'd look closely at what got moved... :shocked:
