on my 14 RT-L. 11 fill ups; 1,535.4 miles; 40.171 gal; average 38.222 mpg. Best 42.528 mpg, worst 35.911 mpg. Stats include first ever 200+ miles on a tankful...202.8 miles on 5.161 gallons, 39.295 mpg. Had a little less than a 1/4 tank showing on the fuel gauge, fuel light not on.

Ditto on the gas reports--I am in the low ball club with 37mpg on most every tank.

Note: What a difference a year makes concerning reports on :spyder2: :ani29:'s. :yes:

Thanks, Roger. I'm more than happy...I'm happy, happy, happy. However, I've had more warranty work done on the 14 RT-L in the 3 months, 2 weeks I've owned it than I did on my 12 RT-L in 22 months of ownership...but that is another story for another day.

I finally got some decent mileage on mine and I was towing the trailer too! You see there seems to be something about going slower and getting better gas mileage. I have a hard time with that concept though. :roflblack: The trip to and from Durango was mostly on 2 lane roads with 65 mph speed limits and I got around 38 mpg. For me that is quite good.

I agree. Two up at 65 and under pulling our loaded trailer in southern Utah we are avg 40 mpg. Today when we took I15 with speeds of 80 mph we got only 34mpg. It's amazing what just 15 MPH more can do to the gas mileage:shocked:

Variables & MPG

Throttle use, RPM shift points, load and a whole bunch of other variables like altitude, wind and temperature etc. all have an effect on fuel consumption. I ride a lot and no two tankfuls get the same mpg. City, country & highway riding seem like the biggest differences in my case. Ethanol is bad for our engines and reduces fuel mileage as well but is often unavoidable in some places. Just stay completely away from E85 or E15 fuels.
