• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Antenna Is Gone

I bought it in November with 891 miles on it. Had it trailered up and currently have about 2200. I got it for $16,000 so I don't mind putting a few bucks into it. Just want it running right! Was under the impression though that it was all set to go. WITH A WARRANTY!

I got my 2011 RTS with extended till Jan 2016 for $16.5K June of last year from a private seller. I got a good deal. Yours is also a good deal back in November. Now for both of us, it's not that great a deal anymore when the 2014's hit the streets. I am seeing new 2013 "Limited" going for 17K now :(
But that's the way it goes.

Tell you what... I feel sorry for you. Do you plan at all to do your own service? If so I have a free present for you.
I bought a electronic 2010-2011 full service manual last year (it's a scanned PDF of a real service manual) for $15. Then I ran across a good deal on a real 2010-2011 hard copy BRP service manual so I really do not need the electronic one. If you plan to do any of your own service I will give you the electronic one. Just PM me and I will get your address.

I was talking to my dealer here in Cleveland, Ohio. Turns out that the emissions warranty is standard on all Spyders. It takes care of any EPA issues, etc. Why the cycle shop that I bought the trike from and the dealer that "looked over" it thought is was a full warranty, I have no idea. Looks like their incompetence is now my dollar.

If I'm not mistaken, all vehicles (including cars) come with a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty on the emissions portion of the vehicles built into it (I'm not sure if the feds mandated that or not), but it covers things like the cat converter, etc

Go to Wal-Mart and get a replacement rubber antenna for 10.00 and forget about it, or call Harvey at Spyderpops, 501 627-4008 he has some neat retractable antennas for $21.00.

2012

Well they didnt fix the 2012's all that well-I lost mine about a year ago-it was covered under warrenty. They did put lock tight on the new one so dealer said I should not have another problem. Question-anyone have the shorty-did u lose any reception?
Thanks!

To my knowledge, you cannot just go to Walmart and get a replacement antenna. Even the after market antennas have an adaptor to fit the Spyder. In addition, a tech told me that they have specific grounding. Plus, you still have to order the rubber boot/cover from BRP.

After mine was broken by the cover in high wind I went to Wal-Mart and bought one of their rubber duckies. It works just fine.

Rubber ducky was slang for a flexible antenna. I just removed the remains of the OEM antenna using a 7mm wrench and screwed the Wal-Mart one in its place.

I tried the Walmart rubber ducky and the longer distance reception was very poor to non existant. I found the majority of trucks and autos use a screw in antenna that works and looks good and same leangth as spyder antenna. It has a blank collar on the threaded end which you run a M6X1 die over it and it works perfect. I went to our local dump and out of eight wrecked vehicles I ended up with five spare antennas. Total cost of repair 'O'.

Thanks

Thanks for all the input. Here is my $10 fix. Not sure if it will get amazing reception, but I don't use the radio that much. Probably more esthetic than anything else.

Walmart antenna (came with different adapters/covers) $9
Rubber washer (to keep water out and so I don't scratch the paint) $0.55
