• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Ever been hassled because of your RC patch?

I'm just curious to know if any of you have ever been hassled by other "Bikers" due to sporting your Spyder Club (or any other) patch on your vest or jacket? I've seen posts on other forums talking about having trouble with local MC's because of the 2 pc patches that their RC was using and don't really know how common that is. I've never has any problems with sporting an SRA cut, but how often, if ever, does it actually occur?
 
I think it depends on the locality. IMO: Big cities where the gangs are very territorial would be a place where I may choose not to wear colors.

We do have a contingent of Hells Angels up here, but have not run into any issues with them.

Have mentioned this before, but I have a two patch vest I like to wear when I go riding sometimes. Two of us, dressed accordingly stopped into a roadhouse for some lunch. There were about 6 HD's parked out front. No problem, we see this all the time. Turns out it was a part of the HA contingent. They gave us a quick look over and said hello. One even looked our :spyder2:'s over before they left.

My best advice is to use your judgment. When in doubt--get out.

but then I avoid large groups of bikers there is alway another place to stop. Now if it is a mixed group no problem. Like the Rock Store where there will be all types. The other is we are not a threat but more of a joke we are not going in the right direction and not harley powered....:roflblack::roflblack:
 
I have never had a problem with colors. I believe you might if you have a 3 patch system on the back. JMO

As far as problems with HD riders I have only had one problem with a "Poser". The guy had an HD and wore everything with HD on it. In my day they would have called him a Yuppie. Most people that ride look over all bikes including the Spyder. I even watched a 1% and his "old lady" looking over a Piaggio MP3 and talking that it would be good on vacation with their motorhome.
 
I just want to ride...I don't do "patches" or "clubs"... just never been for me.....

have work my SRA patch since 2011 when the San Diego Chapter was started....haven't had a single issue.

and there is a LARGE difference between the 2 piece and 3 piece. the 3 piece leans towards the 1%/trouble MC's, where 2 piece leans towards more of the riding group types. trust me, there was plenty of research done while crating the prototypes/ideas for the SRA logo/patches/rockers.
 
Colors with rockers will draw more attention than a single patch. And there is a difference between a RC and a MC. Riding clubs are just that, a riding club. Members are patched in and do not have to go through a "prospect" phase. They normally only have to attend a set amount of meetings and rides. They also pay for their patch to cover costs but don't usually pay dues.

In an MC, new members go through a "prospect" phase first. They wear a rocker on the front of the vest that says prospect. They have to go through an initiation period before they are awarded the "colors" of the club. Club members also pay dues. Rockers denote the ranking within the club. MCs also have a territory. They don't like encroachment by other clubs on their territory especially 1%ers.

If you find yourself in the "territory" of a 1% MC while wearing your patch, take it off and put it away. If they ask you to leave, do that without any argument. Don't offer a handshake unless one is offered first. Don't strike up a conversation unless you are spoken to first. Do not approach two club members having a conversation. Wait until you are acknowledged. DO NOT touch their colors in any way such as a pat on the back. This is showing disrespect and can result in some real trouble.

Pat attention to signs posted at bars and clubs that say "No Colors Allowed". They're there for a reason. The Land Shark Bar in Myrtle Beach has such a sign. We have a few private bars here in town that has them posted.

Most times, you will not have any trouble from a MC. Even some of the well known 1% clubs. I have talked to some HA's here in our area. We are also friends with some Ghost Riders and are invited to their annual shindig.

I have been in many large group rides with MCs and RCs and haven't had any issues with colors. Once they understand you are in a riding club they usually leave you alone.
 
One of my brother's friends is in a veteran's MC. He said they had to get permission from the 1%'r club in this territory to operate here. After they had a meeting with them, they were approved and all has been well.

Weird that such happens, but it's a sub-culture you may need to know about.
 
I have had 2 and 3 pc patches for well over 35 years with NO trouble and I spent several of
those years in Oakland, CA

The guys that set up our club did the same thing. Once they saw that we were a riding club and not a motorcycle club all was ok.
