• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Hard to see $245.00 worth of product here

this item is on my "next to get list" i've been waiting for this black one
it is not any more expensive than anti sway bar for cars
if it will get rid of inside wheel sway like it should i will be:D
this is only mod i will be getting before i get corbin cases:D

i am still torn on riser
i like the ryding position of spyder but it does put too much weight forward when i take curbs hard and riser should help there but i just don't like the look of spyder with riser

I have been selective with the upgrades I have put on my Spyder. I have high remarks with NMN's products. I have purchased the 4" risers last year and Ken's swaybar and I have no regret whatsoever with what I have purchased. I am well pleased with the quality and performance of my Spyder. It is hard to judge an item just by looking at pictures or without actually testing it. Like the saying goes, you don't judge a book by its cover. If you have buyer's remorse, I'm sure you could return the product if you are not 100% satisfied. You will eventually see the difference of Ken's swaybar from the stock, like those who have purchased and tested its quality and the change in performance of the Spyder.

I hope there won't be any regrets with your purchase, Lamont. I wish you well and feel better from your recent illness.

I got my sway bar from Ken and I have to say just looking at what it took material wise and fabrication wise I find it hard to justify the $245.00 bill I got for it. For some reason I thought there was more to it. :dontknow:

I have heard good reports about it so I'll hold back judgment until I ride around with it for a few miles but right now I've got buyers remorse. :opps:

I forgot to add that the 4" risers and the swaybar compliment each other. Fast twists on curves result with such ease, comfort and quick reaction. Combined together as add-ons to the Spyder will create a positive and improved handling and performance for the Spyder ryder.:2thumbs: all the way!!!

I doubt they're made in house, so there's that cost. Development, heat treatment, fabrication, rockwell testing, powdercoating, advertising, profit margin. I bet they cost more to produce than just the price of the metal involved.
I've gotten sticker shock on some LED lighting products, too!!:yikes::yikes:

Lot's of motorcycle accessories are overpriced for what they are. Wish they weren't. (But it hasn't worked so far):ani29:

Guess you didn't read my whole post.
what it took material wise and fabrication wise I find it hard to justify the $245.00

I was in the welding and fabrication business for 16 years and in the motorcycle parts business for 8 years so I have a pretty good idea what a part like this would cost to bring to market. I may just get with my suppliers and see what it would cost to bring these to market.

My guess is they are using the same material that everyone else uses for sway bars. The material is tested from the supplier, not the fabricator.

Mechanical Properties:
Steel - 1045 Cold Drawn
Tensile Strength - 110,000 psi
Yield Strength - 85,000 psi
Hardness - 22 Rockwell C Scale

I'm not sure why you brought LED's into this other than you think it's a shot at my friends at No Magic. I'm pretty sure I could make this sway bar in my garage but would have have a real hard time casting a mold to custom fit my Spyder with LED's in my garage.

Bottom line is I knew what it cost when I ordered it so it should be of no big surprise, I just thought there was more to it when I saw it on the web and now that I have it in my hand I see there's not much to it. I just hope it performs as advertised.

No, actually as I said in the post, I think it's an improvement for aggressive twisty riding... like twice the limit in curves. I know someone who does that. :yikes:

Close to normal (sane) riding? ... I'm not sure it adds much to the experience.

.

Okay, I apologize for going around in a circle here (seemingly), but do you think the sway bar is more needed for those with risers?

Yes but does the iphone help. :joke:

The iphone was used to give you an idea of the size of this product. I guess that was one of the letdowns when I opened the box.

I do love my iphone though and it was only $150 bucks. :D

I think it's best to wait until you actually test the product to give an opinion of it.

Maybe it's worth $245 - Maybe it's not. You obviously ordered it for a reason - and if it does what you expect then maybe it's worth the $$$.

Another hidden factor with bringing any aftermarket item to market is liability insurance. The more stuff you put out there, the bigger chance you take of getting sued. I can't imagine the hefty insurance these guys *should* have when selling these parts. One failure of a component at the wrong time and you've just lost your business.

Yeah - I know they have disclaimers - doesn't matter - a jury trial will still side with the end user in most cases.

I've found Ken's stuff to be top notch. Not cheap, but as always you get what you pay for.

My opinion is only based on the part in hand. I will have a ride report as soon as I can and if it performs well it will help easy the pain. ;)

I agree about the cost of running a legit business. I'm pretty sure that Ken has all his ducks in a row liability wise and the quality of this part looks great, just not $245.00 great ;) but as long as guys like me keep buying them at that price I'm sure he'll keep selling them at that price. :doorag:

gotcha...

I was considering the sway bar as the "reasonable" upgrade for what I do. I normally plan on packing my trailer and heading for a good time. Although I'll take an interstate, I prefer well paved alternate routes.

This last weekend I went camping during a rain storm, and do to the actions of 3,000 others, the trails around the campsite became quite "muddy". The highlight of the event turned out to be watching the "rigs" dig deeper ruts while trying the leave the property.

Since I'm this far down....should I get the bar?:dontknow:

Wow...that redefines traction control...looks like there was no traction to begin with...

Good luck cleaning the bike up...I think I'd just hose the whole thing down, let it dry, and go from there...what a mess!
