• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

helmet locks

What are you guys using for helmet locks? Dealer said to use the hooks under the seat, but I count not figure out to do that without helmets scarring the side panels.

Helmet locks

My helmet does not have D-rings so I had to look for another method. I found that gun locks are quiet cheap and work well. They have a SS cable that threads into the helmet then connects to the key locking mechanism on the other end. The cable can be attached to the passenger hand grips with the helmet setting on the rear seat. When we are two up her helmet in on the back seat and mine sits on the front with the cable around the back rest. You can purchase the locks at most sporting goods stores. I bought two of them that were keyed alike. That way we only need one key on the ring with the other keys safely secured in one of the storage compartments.

Little checking..!!

On the home page sponsors. There are many, the tag/lic plate holder for two helmets, the handlebar end type but I find the retractable cable lock the best. Place helmets on the seat run the cable through them and the grab bar. The type I use "Kryptonite" I got on ebay though amazon also has them...

About a week ago; we had a thread about this also...
There was a VERY nice description about how to make a set of cables, that you hook through your D-rings (If you have them!), and then up over those hooks under the seat.
Essentially; you get some of the heaviest plastic-coated steel fishing leader that you can get your hands on, and the stuff needed to crimp some loops in it...
Probably a tackle shop near where they go out on the ocean for the REALLY BIG Fis:shocked:h!
Make a loop at one end, that fits nice and secure over the hook under the seat...
Make another loop at the other end that's maybe a bit larger...
Run the cable through your D-rings, then feed the "securer" loop make through the larger loop
It should now be hookked solidly to the helmet.
put your loop over the hook, and close the seat! :2thumbs:

I use Helmet Guardian - hooks under seat are a joke....

We've used this helmet lock on our 2012 RT L and have transferred it to our 2014 RT L. We use it with Nolan T extensions (we have Nolan N43 Helmets) -- makes them hang a little lower....here's a pic of them on my 2012 RT L. Here's also a pic of the lock I looked up for you.....

I like this option.
My helmet has D rings but my wife's doesn't.
Easy enough to hook the Y part of the strap through the lock.

Just purchased a Helmet Guardian last week. I like that solution for when I'm riding with a passenger. When riding alone my helmet is in the drunk it with me.
