Catalytic converters are not only state, but federally required. It doesn't matter what the other guy is doing, it only matters if your vehicle came with one or not. It's up to a $50,000 fine for violations.

I'm not saying NOT to do it, or that it's a bad thing, just what the laws are. It's totally up to you. Many people will say "I've removed mine, and not been caught." I liken that to "I've been skydiving for years, and never had an equipment issue." It only takes once....

In response to the original question, removing the cat is illegal in all states. What you do with that info is up to you.
