• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Test drove a 2014 Spyder RT today

Freedom Power Sports in Kennasaw, GA was having a test ride event today. Triguy had posted this in the GA section here on SLs.

My perception was that the seat was lower as it was a bit easier for me to get on and off. I was told it was not the standard Limited seat. There was a cap on a hole for a backrest. The seat made me sit too far forward for my liking.
This put my right leg in a bad position for working the brake pedal. The brakes themselves were terrific. But, I had to put my foot only on the brake pedal and not part on something else, like a foot peg that I'm used to. I was having to hold my leg up in order to work the brakes. I've never used floor boards on a motorcycle before. I asked if you could get a RT without the floor boards? I was told yes.
This RT had the SE6. I could not get it to go into reverse. I tried several times. Then one of the dealer guys stepped up to have a try. It took him several tries to get into reverse.

The ride was great. Real good acceleration when I got the chance. I sounds like a sewing machine, which is not a bad thing. Real quiet. There was a deep throaty sound once in a while.
I realized that it's not the vibration of my 2010 RT that make my right hand go to sleep. It happened on this bike as well.
Shifting the gears seemed to be a bit smoother than my Spyder.

I don't like all the extra chrome on this model. In my opinion, it makes it look cheap. I can see why Lamont had his parts coated.
I'm glad I took a ride one one. I would lean towards an S model because that's the only one that has anything close to the color of yeller.
 
The SM doesn't have footboards. Numb hands are more often a result of ergonomics than vibration. Neck and wrist position are the two most common causes. Don't ask how I know.
 
In the case of right hand sleeping , Do you grip the handle too tight? Try to relax your grip, I use my cruise control often as possible and give my right hand a break.

I very much agree with you on your comment about the chrome making the Spyder look cheap. I would like to see one with no chrome whatsoever.
 
The S model only has the color yellow.
As far as my numbing problem goes, it may be carpel related from doing some sort of polishing with air driven hand tools for over 18 years.

The RT-S bikes have an odd mixture of chrome and black parts:
Chrome windshield, top top, and side storage compartment trim pieces
Black wheels, side panels and floorboards...

I'd almost prefer that they went with the full "Blackout" treatment on it...
But that's just me! :D
And I'm like an old crow; I dig the shiny bits and pieces! :2thumbs:

I powder coated it to black out specs. No gray primer. Only gray on my Spyder is on my head.

Unless you hook one of those "chirpers" to it... the ones that help you find lost keychains! :D
