• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. BRP called and they want their Spyder back

BRP take note

I was fortunate to ride this 2014 RT SE6 when Ann & Joe were aligning my GS. Since I was able to take my time and ride on familiar roads, I was able to get a real good feel for the new '14's. Ann was so gracious to also let me ride her new SM6, which helped me make the big decision. I am seriously researching the availability of '14 SM6's now. :D

Just so you know BRP - Ann is a great ambassador/salesperson for you.

Actually they emailed me and said it is time to give back the test Spyder. I've had it since Jan 2nd and it had 1300 miles on it. It should be really close to 10,000 when I take it back on Tuesday. It had been awesome and performed almost flawlessly. It was great having two 2014s in the garage but it will be nice to have some room to move out there.

I took it in the Ladies trip to NM in Jan and we took it on 2 trips to CA and it is in Tuscon this weekend. Thanks BRP and I hope you don't mind that I ride the heck out of it.

Ann, during all those miles, how often did the oil get changed and was much, or any, added between changes? With 1500 on mine no oil at all was added, unlike my previous 998 which used about 4-6 oz per 1000 miles.

I got my email too, and return it on Tuesday also. I won't have as many as you will (about a little over 5000 miles), but sure was a blast while it lasted. I sure was hoping that Paul forgot about me.

Too late I already asked, but don't mind sharing :ohyea:

I know you asked Ann, but I never added any oil on the 14 RT compared to ever 500 on my 12 RT. Did not need a service for mine like Ann did.

They may be loaning them out to current RT owners, in order to stir-up interest in a market that's already "keyed-in" to this type of bike. ;)
They probably figure that You sportbike guys, just don't like riding around on "Winnebikos"... :roflblack:

I dunno, Bob. I have given thought to an RT, but wonder how it would handle in the long run compared to the RS, and how much handling I would trade for the storage capacity and additional gadgetry. Just a test drive would not be enough for me to make that decision.

They could send it here for some more testing.....if they would send some decent weather with it. Still snowed in here in Michigan. I'd give almost anything for a Spyder ride.

Saw my first motorcycle of the season in Mt. Pleasant last Friday. Damn! It was sunny, but only 40F, and they were on a naked bike! I'm not manly enough for that anymore! :opps:

The 3,000 mile service was performed at closer to 5,000 and no oil had been consumed. None was consumed since then either and in 3,500 miles on my personal RTS either.

And to define "almost flawlessly" on about 4 occasions when I restarted the Spyder while it was still warm it stalled when putting it in gear. When I restarted it each time it started in either 1st or reverse (depending on what gear I was trying to get into when it stalled) This only happened when the bike was warm.

Thanks Ann for the feedback. I think we have a good motor in these.
I've experience that stalling also, exactly the same, and it seems that it happened when, knowing it was warm, I tried to put it in gear too quickly before the RPM's dropped to complete idle. Since I've started paying attention to idle, its not happened.

I think you are exactly right.
