Installing fog lights on plain RT

I know someone has done this and my FSM does not have details on doing it. Does anyone have a copy of the directions that come with the fog light kit and any tips on how to add fogs to a plain RT. I might have a set of lights and will have to get a switch is all the harness plugs where they should be to do this? I am looking for a good step by step. I have open up that area and see the nacelles are a bear to get out without tearing apart the frunk but I would like to avoid that (and the dealer ) if possible and DIY the install. I am all ears....

I might have mine also. Put a pair on a 2012 rt. I did not remove the whole front, just unbolted one side at a time. It would have been easier to remove the whole front, but that is a lot of pieces. The wire harness was right there to plug the lights in and the switch came with the kit.

I asked my dealer about an install of the fog lights on my 2012 and they quoted 3 1/2 hours of labor. I declined at the time. Still undecided whether they are worth the trouble or not.

Next question is what is the part # for a 2013 fog light switch. I have been through the parts catalogue 3 times and cannot find it. I want an orange one not blue. Any help ?

:dontknow: If you can find the wiring harness diagram for the kit in the parts catalog; anything built for 2012 and later should automatically be orange...

:gaah: Can am will not sell the switch separately from the kit Looks like I am screwed. I called several places and drilled through the catalogue . What would they do if the fog light switch went bad?

I found a kit for $350 from a dealer so I am going in that direction. Thanks everyone for your help. $350 is more than I wanted to pay but a lot less than $514 msrp.

I guess not Bob and thanks for digging them up. I think I may have figured out how to install without removing the frunk and if it works I will be posting it :thumbup:I just hope it doesn't come with one of those fugly blue switches or I will bee platidipping again.

Maybe so but I still need mounting hardware and not sure if the pins on that switch match the BRP plug with 10 slots in it for the F/L. I just popped the cover and looked at the plug. :yikes:

BRP calls it a "beam switch" on the parts catalog under section "electrical harness fuel gauge". You have to look close at their parts catalog because if you look up the part it shows a "plug" for that hole but listed in the parts list there is 2 parts listed for number 577, the plug and the beam switch. There is not a picture of it, just the plug.

Not so sure on that. My manual has it in the headlight area and indicates it as a headlight switch. :dontknow:

I did also find the same # in the section you described and it does show the cover over the RT plug for the fog lights but no switch. You might be right

Your headlights are automatically lit all of the time, and the control switch is over on the left grip...

Look for "beam switch" in the RT-LTD parts list. It's in the electrical accessories, front headlight section. That's another one of the nomenclature nonsense items in the way they write things. And yes, BRP will sell it separately. You just have to have a cooperative parts guy. It is a repair item for RT-S and RT-LTD since they have it as standard equipment.

A good way to find parts numbers for accessory kit items is get the parts guy to call up the installation instruction PDF for the accessory. The instructions list all the parts, with the part #. If the item cannot be purchased on its own there is no part # and it will be noted "not available separately."

If you can wait a day or two I'll post my foglight project. I used these lights http://www.superbrightleds.com/more...d-10-watt-led-mini-auxiliary-work-light/1386/. $50 ea. Add to that some wire and a couple of TE Connectivity/AMP Superseal Series 1.5 3 pole connector housing with male tabs, and you got it made. I mounted my lights on the fenders.
