• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am new here and getting ready to bye a 2013 rs se5 but what is up with the prices
of the accessories for these things. these people are nuts. I know things are high now days
but come on. they must think if you can afford do bye one that you can afford to get
the put over the barrel for the other things you want to put on it.
that sport rack with the backrest is about 3x what it's worth and what is up
with spyder1attitude with that cat bypass. I know they can't make that in 5 min but
i do know that they are jigged up for it and it dosen't take $450 worth of time. then
they hit you with the price of the gaskets on top that. Now about that first service
that they want you to get at 600 that should be up to brp to take care of that. the
thing is brand new and if they think that it should be checked that early they should
cover it. anyway just my 2 cents sorry.

It's simple. They think if you buy a Spyder, you have the money for their accessories, LED lights or other. For them, if you have a Spyder, you are rich...

I agree their prices are high, but remember they have no competition and a small customer base compared with the HD, Honda or Yamaha customer base.
that said, when I looked for the OEM decals, the price on Chaparral Racing.com was less than BRP list, is what most dealers wanted. I do not know if that would be the case on other accessories. They or CheapCycleParts.com may have some better pricing.

I agree, most accessories are pretty high. There are a few things I would like to do but will have to wait until I have the Spyder completly paid off. My advice is to ride it a while before you decide what you want to do. And remember you never get back what you invest in your mods when it is time to sell. As far as the service costs, try to get the first service included in the purchase. I tried this but failed, because I had haggled to good in the "out the door" price that they would not include the first service. It runs on average about 300.00 but that was pretty close to my first service when I had my Triumph Bonneville . Anyway, enjoy your new ride

Unlike a lot of folks on here, you are going into the buying process knowing the high cost of items, so you have the ability to not enter into this zone or to enter and pay the price for services and aftermarket items. But if you go in knowing the consequences and then complain, shame on you

Not bad if compared to other manufacturers accessory prices...Price out some Harley accessories...

R&D costs distributed over a very small number of units due to the small market share. If you think Spyder accessory prices are bad, you should take a look at stuff for my GT. I just paid $100 for a shirt......

Thrifty shopping will save you 50 % or more on acc. I got Can Am gear for 1/2 off or more. Lighting is way over priced but if it is plug and play without splicing it may be worth it. I make Lincoln cry and get my farkles for what I want to pay. One thing makes me mad the only BRP electrical item I want is the fog lights. I will not pay $500 for a set. I keep watching salvage yards but have only found 1 side for $150. I may just go with an "A" frame mounted fog set that actually works. BRP's are more for looks and visibility and are crappy as a fog light no adjustability.

enjoy it !

I shelled out 32k for my 2012 RT Se5, I knew it was insane to do so- I could off easily gotten a nice mustang or decent vette...but, I love mcy and compounded by getting old, I invested in one. NO
regrets yet! yeah farkles are insanely over priced but its the nature of the beast. its with everything you buy new. first ride then save to buy! happy riding.:firstplace:

Some of the items are way way over priced but it pays to shop around. I wanted the Tri-axis bars for my spyder RTS and finally found a new set in the box from a dealer in Arizona and saved about 150 bucks! Hold on to your money for the cat bypass as there are going to be several vendors on the forum offering them soon, hopefully they will be more affordable, I know I'm waiting.....

The problem is that there aren't enough of us to get prices down due to volume. Plus...accessories for stuff like this just cost a lot. I used to own a Corvette. The same part for a Camaro was often 30% to 50% less than the same part that was slightly different for a Vette.

The price of the RS BRP back rest rack package is definitely over the top. I got mine worked into the deal.

I know there are more reasonably priced good solutions out there as well.

Me too The " Corvette Tax" and "Spyder Tax" seem to be the same.

I realize we know things are going to be higher going in to this.
I don't really have a problem paying what is worth but i do have one when
they just take advantage.
i wanted a spyder when they first came out and just getting it now.
so i guess it's do what you can when you can do it. and i know it's
how bad do you want it. but still.

It's commen in the industry and a cost of riding or driving any particular machine that needs to be taken into account. Remember that accessories aren't necessities for the most part, so buy them when you have the extra bucks, or put them off for a while if you don't. I agree that the sport backrest is overpriced...although it is well built and designed. Try the SmoothSpyder version for an alternative. As to the cat bypass, Lamont is producing them now, I think. I know his will fit well. That item is certainly a luxury, though, and is not in any way necessary for the enjoyment of riding the Spyder. JMHO

I priced my stuff too low as I forgot about "Spyder Tax" :hun:... some of my items just break even.

You are a good man and vendor then  I have seen some exactly the same items from different vendors with wildly different pricing :dontknow:
