• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have a new 2014 and would like to know what is the best type of trailer to use when towing the bike? I want to make sure that I can tightly secure it and not damage the front when riding the bike on or off the trailer. Also are there any parking issues with the bike on a trailer I should be aware of?

A tall (longer ramp), enclosed trailer is best, in my opinion. There are lots of good choices, though. Just be sure to have enough length to be able to tie down through the wheels (or use SuperClamps up front), and have enough clear width at the door/ramp to allow fender clearance. A short ramp can be a problem, but can be overcome by raising the trailer tongue when loading, raising the ramp with wood blocks or planks, or bulding/buying a ramp extension.
 
Let's put it this way; a 6x10 single-axle trailer can do the job...
But a Vee-nose, enclosed, double-axle 6x12, or even 6x14, with a nice long ramp, will do it even better...
(Assuming that you've got the vehicle to tow it!)
There are some very complete instructions right in the owner's manual, on how to secure the bike when trailering...

I agree the best way to haul is with a enclosed trailer. It's secure and out of sight from the bad guys. :thumbup:

Be very careful with any 6 x anything enclosed trailers...... The rear ramp door might not be wide enough to get the Spyder in. Measure and measure again to be sure. Mine would not fit in the brand of trailers I was looking at so I ended getting a 7x14.

The absolutely best way is to load the Spyder into a diesel pusher motor home equipped with a toy hauler compartment and a 6' x10' hydraulic lift gate....

...I just wish I would win the lottery...
 
Enclosed is better but I went with a Alumna TK-1 trailer. It was in my budget after I became "retired" not my choice.

I have the Ultimate Trailer out of Colorado. Great trailer. We have trailered the bike many times and it handles well with the SUV. Easy on and off the trailer as the trailer lowers to the ground and you just ride on and off.

I use a triple crown 6x12 utility trailer and it works great - easy to load and unload and fits,in the garage. Enclosed would be great if you can fork over the bucks. A 6x10 would work as well but the extra 2 feet was only 35 bucks.
 
I have had a lot of unintended trailer hauling of a spyder.... I use a 18ft 12,000 pound rated gooseneck trailer.... because that is what I have....
 
Found This Trailer To Carry Our RT

We found a (standard production) cargo trailer that is small (6' x 10'), yet allows the fit to haul our RT. The ramp door opening is wide enough (66") for the RT, hard to find on a standard 6' wide enclosed trailer.
