Aux Audio wire

The 10 pin plugs into a harness at the right rear, just under the passenger handle. The 3.5 plugs into the GPS harness which is ran down the right side from the handlebar to just past the gas tank.

OK so it also needs the entertainment harness as that plug is not going to fit into the radio?

OK it's starting to make sense.

GPS comes with a cable long enough. This plugs into the "support harness" Steve is showing.

But where does the support harness plug into? Certainly not the radio directly as it is the wrong connector.
So either that connector is there already on the bike or you also need the entertainment harness?
The BRP sheet does not list needing the entertainment harness so I assume this 36 pin connector is already on the bike and wired to the radio's SD01 connector (main radio harness)?

The two wire connector is the power and ground connection for the GPS. The 3.5 plug is connected to the audio cable on the GPS harness. The power cable that comes with the GPS mounting kit is not compatible to the 2014. My dealer said the GPS mounting kit for the 2014 isn't available yet.

Steve, any chance you can take a picture of the GPS harness on the back side of the 36 pin connector?
I need to see which pins are audio and power so I can make my own

Are you referring to the GPS connector, or the BT connector? If the GPS then the following should help. We've gotten BT and GPS discussions mixed in together, and they are two totally separate animals.

It's the 8 pin connector, not 36 pin. It has a blank plug in it, and is part of the basic OEM harness. Here's the section of the wiring diagram that applies to it.



Probably the easiest and most sure way to identify the pin positions for the audio and power are to trace the wires into the back of the connector by color. The colors are listed on the wiring diagram as are the tip, ring, and shield wires. I'd get a pic of the connector for you but it's all under cover now on my bike. You can get a pretty good idea by looking at the closeup pics in the other thread.

Are you familiar with the convention for identifying wire colors - base color/trace color?

Does this get you everything you need? If you're referring to the entertainment harness connector for BT, then we'll have to work on that one.

That's all I need and I can trace the wires out of the RDO1 connector. I can figure out what pins they are on the 8 pin from that.

Time to make a DIY cable for my older GPS I don't use anymore (Nuvi 205) as the car has one built in now. It's maps are updated and it works fine it's just not fancy which I don't need on the Spyder anyway. It's also small which I like.

I took it apart today and found on the circuit board an area for a factory audio out jack which they probably add on more expensive models. I am going to add an audio out jack to it and this should make it work perfectly!

I got the audio out jack put on my old Nuvi 205. It works as I plugged it into my SM10 AUX port and could hear it over my BT headsets! It also overrides the radio... Very cool! So that is tested and GPS is ready.

But I want it integrated with the radio so it comes out my speakers OR my BT SM10! Using the GPS cable into the radio this should work perfectly!

Thanks again WasWinger! You gave me what I needed to have the best of both worlds... Speakers or BT!

I will do a video on this when I get the time to remove the panels and run the cables. So a car GPS can work if you spend the time

GPS was last on my list of must haves and NO WAY was I going to spend the bucks on a motorcycle only GPS! This should allow me to use any GPS I like! For now it will be a dated but still functional Nuvi 205

Another question please.

I notice on some unused connectors BRP puts a blank connector in them to close them off. When I remove the panels will I find a blank connector plugged in the harness? If so I can use that to make a cable. Otherwise I have to find the connector online and order it.

You should be able to. You'll need to get the parts and pieces to convert from blank to plug, like wire seals and pins. Do you have the service manual? I think the instructions to disassemble them are there. I'm not sure what exact model series the connectors are. Go to Newark.com and search for Delphi PA6-GB20 GF10. That's the number on the male pin housing blank plug I took off. That should get you to the entire family of parts for that series of connectors.

I have the pins and plugs already from making BT Sena SM10 dongle cables for people. Only thing I don't have is the connector so I am glad to here a blank should be there.

Going to wire all this up this coming weekend.
