Dealers getting overwhelmed with trades!

Went to a couple of dealers this weekend and noticed quite a few trade-ins setting around. Talked with one salesman and he said they are getting so many people wanting the 14 models that they are offer stupid low trade-in prices and people are taking the deals? They also said that they will be out of their initial order of 14's and still have 13's left on the floor.

This can good news

For the first time Spyder owners that are looking to buy . Question is how are the deals for them 2013 's

My local dealer was selling a new 13RTS in red for 21k vs a new 14 RTS for high 28k. They also had a 14 RT limited for just over 30k. They also mentioned something about extra years warranty but no rebates of any kind.

I think we kind of knew this was coming. The 2014 RT's are flying off the shelf. People seem to like them a lot. So far, no issues except for the "locktite on the screw" oil leak issue. We also knew that the trade in market would probably get worse as the season progresses. Early purchasers seem to be getting the best trade in's. Procrastinators, not so good.

This isn't all bad for the Syder community has a whole. Yeah it sucks if you're one of the 2014 buyers taking a bath on a trade-in. But, it's good to get some used units in the pipeline for first time buyers who want to try the Spyder out but can't afford the price of new model. The second or third time Spyder buyers are great and a new Spyder ryder buying a used machine joining in the fun is good for all of us.

Still not a cheap machine to buy

Yes the dealers/BRP have some nice rebates right now to clear out last years stock but by the time you add destination and set up fee's tax and license it is still not a cheap machine to purchase and looses thousands of dollars as soon as you drive it off the lot just like any vehicle!! That being said it is great that there will be some really nice used machines for sale but I have yet to see any going for outrageously low bargain basement prices I think the Brand is holding its value very very well and I agree that this is a great opportunity for first time buyers to get into a nice used machine at a more reasonable price than buying brand new.
Even though I have purchased both of our Spyder's brand new as there were not to many if any used RT'S when we wanted to buy my Wife a Spyder! Her's 2011 RT. SE. AC. and His 2013 STL .

I have bought used cars and trucks for the last 10 years because you can get great deals buying used.

GREAT TIME TO BE A FIRST TIME BUYER :yes:

I agree on this being a good thing..Last summer,I purchased a leftover 2012 RTL because I couldn't find a used 2011..At the time, there were no used Rt's out there...More options for buyers is always a good thing...

just for the fun of it I went and looked at about ten different markets on cragislist to see what kind of pricing they were running for some left over 13's.

i was shocked to see how high pricing was. i know we are coming into riding season so I guess dealers are trying to make a serious profit after a less than stellar winter riding season.

I know who ever gets the 2012 RT I traded in at PitBull is going to get a good deal. Very solid ride and still under warranty plus BEST.

This could be a good thing for new Spyder purchasers, those not able to afford a new one or people not willing to spend that kind of money. This will especially apply to first time riders who have done little or no research. They will see only the price tag and if they can have a new 2012 or 2013 RT for well under $20k they will jump at it. They will be able to get low mileage used ones for even less. It will be a way for the dealer's to unload all the trade-in's and people who never would have considered a Spyder before to now become owners. In time prices for used ones will inch up...I hope.

holy smokes

Just last month my wife purchased a new 2013 RTS/SM5 for 17,699

Holy smokes Shooter they must be stuck with a ton of extra Spyders there in Texas that is one smokin deal on an RT up here in the Seattle area they are around 2500 off of list price although I haven't sat down with a dealer to see how low I could get them to go.
However I do have a call in to my salesman at Lifestyles for a trade in price for the 13 STL and possible deal on a 14 RT

First time buyer

My 2014 RT Limited is the first Spyder I've owned and am really enjoying it. Already put 2K miles on it and only issue was the locktite oil leak, easily fixed by my dealer. Have only read of one individual in Florida who is having major oil leaks and had engine pulled out to repair it and now it's going in back again with same problem. But not hearing that this is a widespread issue on this or any other forum. Planning a 4K cross country trip this spring so keeping my fingers crossed. I test drove a 2013 RT and would have bought it if I hadn't known about all the improvements on the new model. Glad I waited. Also very happy with all the insight and information this forum provides. Thanks to you all for your feedback!
