• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Check Engine Light on and high RPMS and then off

Yesterday, I go to start the bike and the check engine light came on immediately and the RPM's revved extremely high. I turned it off and waited and tried again, same thing, so i repeated this for 2-3 times. Was finally going to tow it to the dealer and tried one more time and it was fine. (I figured oh computer glitch). I drove it to the dealer so they can hook it up to the computer and see what was wrong. I was told everything was ok, they reset the computer and off I went. Well, ha, I was TRYING to leave an event I was at and the same thing happened-Check engine light blah blah blah only this time if I put it in gear, an immediate grinding popping noise occurred so turned it off. Tried this 5-6 times and each time it got worse...once again I was getting ready to leave it and get it towed and tried ONE more time and viola it worked!!!! What could this be? My husband said it sounded like a piston issue. Has anyone had this problem. Daytona is 2 weeks away and now I'm afraid my bike won't be ready to go

The only one that really knows where to start looking is the dealer. He saw the fault codes. It is irresponsible to merely clear them and say it is OK. Make the idiot do his job! Don't worry about the sounds as yet...misfiring can sound like you are throwing screws through the intake. Without codes to guide me, there are lots of possibilities, but bad gas, throttle body, purge valve, or ignition are all leading contenders.

Don't know what year or model you have, but sounds like it could be the Throttle Body. That should have appeared if the tech had connected to BUDS as code P1614. This is an off/on thing, but I rode our 2010 RT for about 6 months and over 6000 miles until I got it changed. Just keep on trying to start until it starts correctly and if you can keep an eye on it when you stop, use the kill switch and DO NOT turn off the ignition. The lights will go off in a few seconds and the computer will not have to restart when your start it again.

The next time that your bike acts "Wonky" at start-up; pull the active codes yourself.
Write them down, and give them to the dealer.
Here's how to get them...

Proceed as follows to view the active fault codes:
1. Turn ignition key to ON.
2. Wait for the multifunction gauge to complete its
self test function.
3. Simultaneously press the following three buttons
on the LH multifunction switch assembly.
- MODE
- SET
- Turn signal button.

(I always kind of laid my left thumb across the top two, and reached in with my right thumb for the turnsignal switch)
This will display any active fault codes up on your main screen...

P1614 is the throttle body...
You might be able to ride the bike for a while with it acting up; but ou'll definitely need to see the dealer about it.
Good Luck!

Thank you everyone, I feel better knowing the problem is...will be taking to dealer tomorrow, how long do you think it takes to replace this???? I want to know what I am up against with these lousy people at the dealer???
