• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New Side panels

You actually can but I myself always like to have some spares and I do replace some of mine after they have been used multiple times. I know it's anal...

Carl

Actually I have one bag of them I use if one starts to feel funny, that's why I asked....they get expensive quick.

Here is the parts list for a white one. The panels are listed as to what BRP is calling the 2014 white, Vegas White Satin, which I am not sure is the same as the 2103 Pearl White.

BRP insulation that goes on the inside of the panels.

Carl, I just forwarded my request for quotation the new 2014 side panels to our local BRP dealership.
Expect to heard from them by next week.

Can you please tell me approximately how many man hours of labor will be needed to install these
panels on our STS.

Meantime, have you been able to notice any significant changes (other than the "cool" look) in engine temperatures after you installed the new side panels?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Beng

Snoopy, have you done anything about getting those new 2014 side panels yet?
I just on the Spderpops BumkSkid, Fox shock absorbers, RonBar and heim links installed.

Amazing how much smoother the bike is and the improvement in overall response/handling is
after changing the OEM shocks and sway bar!

Thanks to Ron for his sway bar and all the recommendations I have read to change the shocks to Fox (same as those in RSS)!
The mod is very cost effective.

I havent been been able to ride mine yet w the bad weather.

I haven't looked into the panels yet.

$900 is a big chunk when I'm not having any real issues. :(

So has anyone other than Carl installed these new panels on their STS?
Just hoping to get some feedback on how effective they are.

True :banghead:

Noticed you getting edgy.....
Take it easy; maybe start up your STS and get some saddle time. The exhaust sounds and fumes might
compensate for a short ride now that it is icy and bitterly cold. Brrrr!

Good time to test that First Gear Cover Alls.

Yeah, itching to try out the shocks. By the time I try it out I won't remember how it felt stock :banghead:

I have found that when the temperatures outside are freezing the ST-S does not put out enough heat to keep one warm so I have really not made any conclusion on how well they are going to reduce the heat. Then again, I never really had too much of a heat problem with my ST-S.

More later...

Carl

Ordered the RH and LH 2014 Air Scoop Panels for a 2013 ST LTD

My CA dealer, JetWorld in Castaic, ordered the two panels for me at a price of $181 a piece. Wanted them in the color of my ST LTD, but they are only available so far in black. I can deal with that as my ST L is in pearl white and the black might just be a nice contrast to the rest of the Spyder. If I don't like the color, I can have them painted. Has anyone done this changeout with the panels? I'm curious if I can do it myself, or if I should give the panels to my dealer here in Bavaria where I live to do? Will see when they arrive. This is a practical addition to my ST LTD as the German plates up front are long and restrict the air coming in to the air intakes. This should give me some relief from the heat from the Rotax I would hope. Best from Bavaria! Rick:2thumbs:

Read through this thread, there are more than just 2 panels needed unfortunately.

Not so hard to do if you have all the correct parts, there is a parts list listed here somewhere as well.

hmmmm, almost $1000 in parts to take care of the heat problems on the ST, wonder how much in labor for the dealer to do it for me? sigh.

Suggestion

If you decide on having the dealer install the panels for you, I suggest you take the opportunity
to have them wrap the exhaust pipes, insulate the gas tank and perform Service Bulletin #2013-9 all at the same time.

To just swap out the panels, my best "guesstimate" is 1.5-2 hours max.

I rode this weekend and on Sunday put 326 miles on our ST-S with the newly installed 2104 panels. It was 40 degrees when we left in the morning and around noon in Nashville it was 72 degrees. These temperatures came from the ST-S dash cluster.

The new panels appeared to funnel in the cool outside air quite well and this also appeared to keep the engine area cool but as to how much, it is difficult to say. The temperature gauge never went above four bars during our Sunday ride. There was no stop-n-go traffic situations mostly backroad riding as we checked out a few of the local vineyards.

I think more testing is needed and in some hotter weather conditions. That will be coming soon and I will report back my findings.

As for right now, I think the new panels are doing exactly as intended, bringing in outside air and bathing the engine compartment with that air.

I did get several compliments from other Spyder ryders about how 'kool' looking the new panels were and several thought it was actually a 2014. When my dealer 'Mountain Motor Sports' actually my ST-S they thought it was a 2014 model.

Carl
