• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Thinking about getting the GloRyder's for my 2013 RT-LTD. Does the remote control the function of the color changes or do you have to go into each wheel unit to change them? Also, do the center caps on the wheels just pop off? I don't want to scratch or break them.
 
The colors change by remote control. The center caps just pop off. Installation is easy. I prefer the single colors because get a lot better illumination. Batteries only last me about a month before having to replace. New generation are self generating which will be cool. Never need to replace batteries. They definitely draw attention to the bike and add to the wow factor.
 
I just put them on my wifes RT-S. The caps are held on with a small set screw with an O ring to keep water out. We have the multi color ones. The remote has back lighting on it. The remote will glow the color the lights are so you dont have to get off the bike to know what color you have changed them to. The remote version also has 2 settings for brightness and on the high setting they are pretty bright. The wife has been very pleased with them.

The instructions say you can install them w/o pulling the tires off but I found that it was easier to just remove the front wheels to install them.

Where did you read that? I've got the Revision 2 version and the instructions mentioned nothing about that. In fact, they mentioned batteries will die in 2 to 3 months give or take depending upon the amount of usage. Maybe I just received the old model instruction but with standard alkaline batteries, I don't see how they would be recharged by motion--although that'd be a great idea.

Marathon, Fla.-based Intelligent Power & Light has developed a new micro-sized generator that fits into the center bore of wheels. The micro-generator stores energy in a capacitor or battery that can power wheel lights with the press of a button.


The generator can power GloRyder Wheel Lights, a product that lights up wheels aesthetic for safety purposes, with a remote control. The device generates power when the vehicle wheels are turning and is independent from the vehicle’s electrical system. The power generated is captured and stored in a rechargeable capacitor or battery for use when the wheel is not in motion, according to Intelligent Power & Light.


The generator, which is about the size of a bottle cap, can operate when the vehicle is parked or in motion. It is an independent power source that even works if the car battery fails. The “gateway device” gives developers the opportunity to cultivate other aftermarket applications that can be powered by the generator, according Kurt Bartels, co-owner of Intelligent Power & Light.


The micro generator may soon be developed to monitor and communicate with the vehicle or outside devices through a wireless signal for applications such as tire pressure monitoring and GPS tracking, according to the company.


Intelligent Power & Light Power plans to roll out a new remote-controlled, self-generating wheel light using the micro generator by the end of this year. The company will begin taking pre-orders for the product at the end of July or early August, Bartels noted.

If you go to their website and click on 'About' you will find the article. It looks like they did not get their funding in place. I ordered the remote control version. I do appreciate all the information I get from Spyderlovers...:ohyea::ohyea:
 
Has anyone installed the rear wheel light? I tried to install one this morning but the washer on the rear axle was too big and interfered with the installation.
 
Just Put Mine On

The set screws tighten on the edges of the nut, not the flat sides. I tried it once and the assembly came off. Put it back on and made sure the screws hit the edges and it's on tight now. I thought the washer was in the way also but I was pulling on unit and the entire bike was moving. I will keep an eye on it when I get out. As soon as the cold and snow go away...

The washer is definitely in the way. I can't get the mounting ring back far enough so the set screws can set properly. Gloryder also said the washer is too big and they've never had anyone with this problem before. I took the wife's bike to the dealer for the service bulletin updates. The service mgr checked the previous years part number for the washer and it is different. But we don't know if the size is different. Either way, he'll try to get me a smaller diameter washer to make the Gloryder light work. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and what they did about it. Her bike is a 2013 RT-S.
 
So if anyone else tries to install the rear wheel light, here's the info. Apparently there was a rear wheel axle washer changed but the dealer wasn't sure which year. He got the washer, BRP Part Number 250200093 $3.99 and installed it on the rear hub. This allowed the rear wheel light to correctly mount.

My :spyder:went in for service today and I gave them the part #. The service writer is going to order it and have it put it on for me. My rear GloRyder is holding on tight but there's nothing wrong with a little more peace of mind. Thanks again :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:.
 
How visible is that third light? Is it hidden by the left-hand saddlebag? :dontknow:

If you're standing close to the Spyder, then the answer is "Yes". If you step away from it, like you're a pedestrian or another vehicle on the road, you'll see it. Note that it is static. It doesn't spin, so you'll not get the same effect as the front lights. Also, it is significantly further away from the wheel than the fronts, so there'll be less light on the wheel.

Finally got to see them in action last night. Ditto on what Mark said about them being static. They all look nice, but I was hoping for a little more light from all of them. While riding behind the wife, you can see the light sticking our from all 3 wheels which was kinda neat. We'll probably add the saddle bag and fender lights some day, but the GlowRyders looked good. We did have the HMT brake light added. It looks awesome. And I'm glad the dealer talked me into the $20 harness so it would also run as an extra taillight.
