• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just sold my fairly new diesel truck and going to buy a new Spyder but since I have never driven one, I am curious to know if you guys think the RTS 14 is worth app 7k more than a leftover 13 RTS ? seems like a lot for one yr! even considering 3 cyc 6 sp to 2cyc 5 sp I value your guys opinion! You know I don't! Thanks, Jym

:welcome:
It's your money; it has to be your decision...
Having said that:
For YEARS; folks have griped about certain characteristics of the RTs...
They need more range
They need a sixth gear
They need more torque
They need more charging capacity
They blow hot air on the rider's right foot
They start melting stuff under the Tupperware (!)

For 2014; BRP has hit every one of these issues!:ohyea::yes:
What's THAT worth to you? :dontknow:

The 14 will cost you more up front, but

3,000 mile breakin vs 600 mile breakin

9,000 mile services vs 3,000 mile services

no valve checks at 14,000

Resale Value will probably be better with the bigger engine

More Power

more comfortable seat

if you buy before the end of February, extra 2year warranty (no charge)

6 gears instead of 5 for a smoother ride with better gas mileage

go further on a tank of fuel

lot of good reasons to go with the 14 RT

in the long run the cost difference will be minimal

There you go...!!

above are the differences and advantages. You still have to make up your own mind and keep within your budget. Though here you may see a good deal of negativity what you don't see is how well the majority have done. If it is that big a difference I would really think it out..either way you will really enjoy this machine and welcome..!!

i was going to hang out and wait on the 14 RT Limited but after much back and forth and reading and talking and more reading and talking, we opted for the 13 RT Limited.

it came down to (a) getting one that was in stock and not having to wait and (b) saving nearly $8k :yikes:.

so far it's been a great decision

The opinions go both ways on the site. Big dollar savings on a 13 compared to bigger engine and revamping on the 2014's. Lots of happy and lots of unhappy customers on the 2013's. Most complaints were on heat issues.

My recommendation is to check out your dealer, test drive, and then make your decision.

Yes, if you can test ride both it will help. If I was getting one right now I would get the 13 and deal with any heat issues "if" they arose.

Welcome

If you can afford it, go with the 14, in the long run you will be happier.

this is just my opinion, but i had a 2012 and a 2013 and now a 2014.

and i loved each one of them.

I think you should read some of the posts before I would buy anything from brp............just saying
:hun: that didn't come out right! did you mean they should read the negative posts before THEY bought anything from brp? that being said, I have a 2012 rss which has been trouble free. I have had 7 skidoo sleds from brp, all trouble free. remember there are 20 happy customers for every one negative post. you don't see all the happy camper posts, you do see all the unhappy owners on a forum like this. just sayin---

Perhaps someone on here that is near to your area knows where you might be able to get a little better deal and close that price gap up a bit and make it easier to make this decision?

I think that is a huge difference for the same model, but as said, it depends on if you are willing to pay that difference.

I suggest test riding both. I think that if you can afford the 14, it's well worth the money. But there is also a big difference in price. Tough choice.

The 13's have a rep, whether its deserved is not for me to say, but come the day you want to sell or trade it, you'll get less for it. I was ready to trade up from my '11, considered the outstanding buys on the '13, but chose the '14.

Couldn't be happier. If you can afford the extra bucks, go for it. :D

I have 2013 RT LTD , with no issues ! with the ECM update Some have posted that it reduced heat , but has not been totally tested yet .
I do like the larger engine in the 2014 'a but these have not been totally tested either , some have had oil leaks .
If it is $$$ , I would go with 2014 , just for the savings regarding maintenance , over the long run .
