• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bulletin 2013-9

Yes, we just installed in the 2013 rts and boy did make a big diff, runs lot better heat down and now jousts runs like a 998 ...get it done soon you will not be disappointed at all. Love so far 450 miles on bike now still runs great...

I have a copy of it and it clearly states at the top "warranty campaign - all involved customers must be notified, all involved units must be corrected as per instructions herein" I think that means at the very least your dealer should be contacting you if not a letter from BRP, at least that how I read it..... don't a campaign fix all unit across the board? It even states that dealers are to fix all unsold inventory as well.
You will not get a letter from BRP except for safety recalls, in most cases. Dealers have interpreted these campaign bulletins in different ways, with some phoning customers, but some "notifying" them when they come in for service. If you want it to be addressed it would be best for you to make the contact. The early bird gets the worm.

If it weren't 20deg I would be doing it tomorrow. I hope this is the solution to my heat and lousy MPG issues. First day I see the forecast above 50deg I will be taking an 87mi. ride. I am happy to see this. I will wait till it really warms up to get the fuse boxes fixed since it has only seen rain 1 time and I can spend the day in Charleston with my wife after she follows me down.

Come on. You're going to drive 87 miles and ask your dealer to do only part of the work on the bulletin that only takes 1.4 hours in total. Really!!!

But, you peeps in CARB compliant states get hosed as usual.....thank you Cali.

Wait... I never knew there was a difference. So you mean that because I bought my Spyder in Cali, it's a CARB vehicle and this new update won't fix anything? :sour:

Is there any way to convert it to a non-CARB Spyder?

B - Update ECM with latest software
Update ECM with latest software to correct the
outlined problems.
NOTE:
Updating the software may slightly improve
riders comfort from heat in some riding
conditions. The portion of the update that addresses
uncomfortable heat felt by the driver is
applicable to non-CARB vehicles only.

My guess is that this means that bikes are running lean which is contributing to the heat. Are non-CARB vehicles the 49 state models? All but California?

when i went by my dealer yesterday they didn't mention this nor did they know anything about any updates for the bike

Not unusual, Cuz! Seems like I find a lot of info way ahead of my dealer because of this web site. I LOVE this web site. Not sure my dealer is as fond!! :D

This is the second time in a week I've heard this. Is the stumble something that is seen on the SE5?

Yes. I have noticed slight hesitation on take off a few times but a couple of days ago I though it was going to stall when I gave it throttle from a stop. That was the first time it was that bad. I though it was just the Rotax powerband being so low before that one. It actually made me start to think more about pulling out into traffic in the future:dontknow:

There is method to my madness plus I do not like sitting around a dealership with no waiting room. The method is I want to try the ECM flash out to see if it resolves my fume/drip problem before I have it torn down. If it doesn't then it will be cheaper to get any mods under the skin done since they have to tear it down I will save a dollar or two in labor later. Plus it is a good excuse for a ride too and making my wife happy tooling around Charleston...again. She works midnights so there is some logistics involved there. My avatar pic was taken during my last trip to the dealer. It is a great city too

Your most likely right on that aspect I bet most dealers will wait till you come in for normal service to get this done. You can bet as soon as the weather permits I'm going in with my copy of the bulletin.

On what really hot days I had late last year the stumbling could actually become a complete stall. I was caught at an accident scene last fall and got stuck in traffic for about 35 minuets actually shutting the bike off for about 20 minuets then when we got to move again it started right up and when I twisted the throttle to go there was nothing there, just chugging and jerking then stall out. It took some cranking but it did restart and go. This could be worse on the automatic because we can't rev up without starting to move.

I spoke with my service manager this morning about the 2013-9 bulletin and she said, "Man, you're fast!" I told her I get my information on Spyderlovers and asked her if she ever got on here. She didn't sound too fond of it either. Too bad for her.

glad

glad to hear that something might be working for them, i am also glad i like the way my bike look with the vents i put on or i would really be PISSED OFF about the money i spent on it

OK, thanks. I have an SM5 which I know puts me in the vast minority, but it sounds like it does not apply to me then. Obviously, to get going, you have to use throttle before letting out the clutch.

I am going to contact Dyno Jet to see what they say about getting the ECM update. I'm in the process of adding a PCV and Auto Tune to my bike and I want to make sure that both will adjust to the new ECM. Also if there is something I need to be aware of before doing so, like possibly having to disconnect the PCV. They also might tell that I don't need the update and to leave it alone.

Dealer

Just called my dealer (Larson Power Sports, Fife, Wa) and he said to call and make a date when I get back from Mexico and they should have
the parts in stock by then. They will get right on it. This is very good news. While I'm there I will look at 1 2014 even though I can't afford one.

Funny though, because most didnt believe that it was a tuning issue back at the end of the summer.
I hope that crappy tuning didn't do any long term damage.
