• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Disabled Vet another wheelchair rider

Welcome to SpyderLovers palehorsevt.

...I think the Spyder is a well thought out machine and dollar for dollar you won't find more bang for the buck. You got to do what feels right for you but I wouldn't give up on the Spyder because of a few of the post here. There are way more folks on here that have had no problems with their Spyders than there are who have. There's just nothing to say when everything works. :doorag:

:agree:
Maybe we could start a thread that goes something like...

Monday - rode Spyder to work and the store, no problems.
Tuesday - Spydered to work, ran some errands and then out to eat dinner, no problems.
Wednesday - Took day off work and rode Spyder to friends cottage to hang out and fish, no problems.

etc. I think that thread would quickly become the longest thread on the site.

welcome and :congrats:

From one para vet to another, I think you've made the right decision. I also think that you are going to find transfering from a chair onto the :spyder2: is going to be much easier (and safer) than making transfers onto the wing. I looked at a Goldwing trike last year that was setup for a para: Klikmatic shifter and integrated brakes. I kept it for two weeks and drove it a couple of hundred miles, but never felt comfortable with the bike. The :spyder2: is a completely different machine. ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY!

Welcome home Brother. Fully agree the transfer to the spyder is sooo much easier and it just feels right. i am going to have Russel or Corbin heated seat
put on, a few other "mods". She should be in next week!!!

Thanks for the input and again welcome home.

Welcome palehorsevt!

I am also a disabled rider of :spyder:and also from VT, thou I kind of move around alot these days.

As far as BRP taking care of there customers and products, go talk to your snowmobile buddy's and hear what they have say. Or ask the guy's at Land Air. I've dealt with them for years and can't say enough good about them.

If the SE5 scares you, do as I did. Get an SM5, add a klicktronics electric shift package, save $500 dollars for some other goodies and hit the road again!

I now have just under 10k miles on mine with nothing going wrong that prevented me from riding home. For me the reliability is not an issue.

And THANK YOU for your dedication and sacrifice for all of us here at home in the US!

Thank you for the info. The more I read the more I wonder if i should have just had my Wing triked. Seems like a whole lot of problems and BRP is not even answering their phone.......Has anyone had a trouble free spyder or do they all have kinks......

Hello horse. I bought my Spyder used with 560 miles on it. I now have almost 4000. My only problem is some squeeky brakes. That's it. It has been nothing but wonderful. I love it but I would understand if you decide not to get one. God bless you and best of luck with your decision. Jerry

Welcome palehorsvet - :congrats: on your :spyder:. Thank you for the sacrifice you made to keep us free. You are atrue american Heroe and a SpyderRyder extrodinaire.

That's a pretty interesting way to go. Scratching my head now....Do you have to clutch with the klicktronics .

Thank you

Sir,

Could you please tell me about the "best warranty".

Thank you

The BEST warranty is offered through Can-Am dealerships and is BRP's extended warranty for their products. Its nice because its honored at Can-Am dealerships nationwide, no saving receipts and mailing in for reimbursement. It adds 1, 2 or 3 years to the standard Spyder 2 year warranty. The Best Plus version of the warranty adds a few more options like towing or roadside assistance I think.

BEST also includes towing and roadside assistance. BEST Plus adds annual free inspection (not clear if it is actual service) and I think it lowers the deductable. http://www.can-am.brp.com/en-US/owner-center/best.htm

Thank you for the link. I checked it out and it is the way to go. Talked to my
dealer and the price is right, not to mention they even offered their private cell phone numbers incase I have a problem to come get me. Again Land Air in Essex VT. I don't work there, have anything to gain just passing on a solid dealer should you ever be in range. Coffee or parts, they will due you right.

Be safe

If your nervous about a automatic, buy a manuel and put a thumb controled electric shift on it.Someone else posted about it on here a while ago.He had the same problem with his left leg.

Yes you still use the clutch ....Sometimes!

Once I'm rolling I seldom use the clutch on upshifts and almost allways use it on downshifts.

There is an ignition interupt available to allow throttle on upshifts, but I don't have that option installed.

This is the way I use my clutch / shifter also, sans klicktronics electric shift. Clutch only used for downshifts and while waiting at stoplights.

In the garage

Guest what is lurking in my garage as I type. A fresh 2009 SM5 fresh out of the crate. Even thou it was 39 degrees, the roads where dry and i put about 30 miles on her. YA BABY this soldier is back in the wind. Amazing the way she soaks up the bumps and the WOW factor from folks is crazy. Thank you all for the input and thoughts on the machine.

Scotty I see you wear stitch, as i do. No need to mention we do distance. I think With a few mods she will be distance friendly. I am only 2 hours from Americade so i can roll in one gate and out the other with pretty much all the mods I need.
