• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

resale value- good deal

Varies..!!

your gonna have differences everywhere you look. In the end the best price will be the one you can live with..!!

:agree:

These guys are a funny bunch though, not much budging on their prices.
A city of 1 million people but they're the only game in town.
It's all a mute point to me anyway, Doc & Dan's reviews on their new rides have made my decision to go for the 2014 RT Ltd one I know will be made with no regrets!

We just bought ours Dec 1st... 2013 RT-S SE5 ... $24,000 out the door...or $21000 plus tax and fees. Being a year newer, RT-S and brand new... I think we got a decent deal that would be preferred over this one. However, we did see some in Georgia (across the country) for less than ours so I know you can definitely get new 2013's for a great deal right now. Plus adding in the 2 year ext warranty free and it's a no brainer.

Martin motor sports is way over priced. You would be better buying at Regina Powersports. There are some decent private sales and Calgary. There are some great prices to be had in the USA. Thinking of going south for one for my wife.

Agreed you got a good deal and its a year newer but the 2012 models are the ones that have been trouble free without problems such as the 2013,s which have had so many problems. Thus the reason they are going for a lower price.I have already seen the 2014 model and rode together with 2 of them in Florida but because of my trouble free 25000 miles so far am going to hang onto my 2012 certainly for another year or 2.

I shake my head at the difference of prices between the U.S. and Canada.
Here's a link for a local dealer up here in Edmonton on some used Spyders.
2010 RT-S with 30,000 Kms / 18,000 mi for 25 grand! In 2010 were they even that much new???

That is why I bought our Spyder in the States. Importing it was a breeze and we only paid $9500 for a 2009 RS SE in Nov 2012. When we buy the next one we will buy from the States again. We don't buy new so warranty is not an issue. If we do get one with a warranty still on it we can go to a Dealer in NY that is only a couple of hours away for warranty.

Spyders aren't the only bikes taking a hit. If you look across the gama of bikes out there, you'll see that many great bikes are taking major resale value hits (I speak from experience). I believe this is due to a economy that is still a long way from fully bouncing back. For most people, motorcycles are a luxury toy, and are the first things to be let go at bargin basement prices, which has long term effects on the resale market.

When I think about the money I loose when I sell a bike, I just take a few seconds to think about all of those people who purchased $60K+ Arlen Ness, Bourget or other high dollar custom bikes and lost more than 50% when they went to sell them (there is always someone out there loosing more money on their sale than us), then I don't feel so bad. BTW, check out this 3 wheeler:

For now, if you are financially viable, enjoy the fact that you are, enjoy the toys, and brush off the loss. There are many people out there who would like to be able to complain about loosing money on a $25K+ toy. This is probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but it really does help to take a step back and look at how lucky we really are :)
