• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

google earth

Every time I've Google Earthed my house the pic has been years old, not like you could see what's currently anywhere? :dontknow:

Here's the thing..!!

They up date all the time..the google car came by hear about a year ago and months later when I googled home our cars were out front. Don't know how long it takes to drive the whole country every nook and cranny nor how many bugs with 360* cameras are running about...

Google earth view of my house is so bad I hardly see my house. The google street view is very clear with my garage door open with a good view of my 09 GS inside.

I kind of like the Bing Map results a little bit better...
home.jpg Of course; the Blue dot is in the wrong place: we're the next up up the road (By the "N") My 2007 Red Sivlerado 4x4 is in the office parking lot, and our HUGE pine tree is still on the corner of our driveway...
Our office is by the "A".

I have actually seen the camera car go by my place. If they can do it regularly in rural Alaska...? I am not a fan of this intrusion of privacy--but won't say any more.

Im in the middle of a city and the map at my house looks to be around 2007? :dontknow:

for some strange reason

i am having problems up loading pictures again. but any way i did it from phoptbucket.
this was a google earth picture i just looked up and they are around 1 year behind on their picture of my house, i know this because when hurricane sandy hit my sisters house really bad she had her car at my house and it is in front of mine.

Last time I looked, the information was very current.

How can you tell how current an area is? Is there a site that shows what areas get updated?

I looked again and at first couldn't tell what car was in our driveway, just realized it was our Mini Cooper. We only owned it a year and a half, from late 2006 up to 2008.

So the Google Earth of my house is at the least from early 2008, 6 years old ! :dontknow:

My yard picture was updated this summer when the vehicle was in our area. Don't know the date on the skyview photo--since not much has changed there. I have a lot of downed trees in my woods from a Sept/2012 incident.

I downloaded Google Earth to my iPad, I don't see a choice for "street view"?

Maybe that would be more up do date....or maybe I could just ask the NSA for a recent pic? :dontknow:
