• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I like to pay for things that I can see, touch, and have. I do not like to pay for promises. I've been taken advantage of too many times in the past. So, I only pay for things that exist in the real world at the time I make the payment.

Hey akspyderman, I thought you would enjoy this post from an Elio forum!

Welcome to the Elio Eskimos Auto Club. I am the first and currently only member of the club but welcome all to join in and take part in the joy and fun that is Elio. I am already beginning to plan the purchase of my Elio and its maiden voyage will be the length of Alaska, from Homer to Deadhorse. Once that is successfully conquered, then I hope to plan a trip from Deadhorse to the Mexican border. All this is to show case the possibilities and endurance of the upcoming Elio and to also provide valuable data for future improvements and models. Again, welcome and looking forward to hearing from the excited masses.

Yes, thanks for posting. I will look forward to the posting of the voyage. Please keep us informed as to when this begins to take place.

Perhaps you should consider joining?? It'd sure help the guy out if he had someone to play cards with!

Be nice Bob. :roflblack: I said that I would be a nice grasshopper for awhile. I have already said a lot and am now in the Missouri state of mind. "Show Me!" :roflblack:

You must have faith. What if eveyone had believed Lord Kelvin?

Did I read the flyer Rando posted correctly? It says that Elio now has 6,005 advance deposits.... Wow. In a nation of 313,900,000 that is like...a lot!

So they're at 6005 deposits so they have a massive $3002500? Thats not bad money if like me your starting up building kits for front ends of motorcycles but its the pox when you are trying to start producton of a full size car. In this I do have some years experience in both set-up of end - to end production lines other than small vehicles and logistical buying for/and budgets for set-up of small vehicles production lines.

That amount I believe would be about half the lease payments for the period that it takes to set-up up the plant to run the amount of units they want to produce pa and I would guestimate a 4th quarter delivery of first production testing models. I emphasise they are guesstimates as another pool of money could have them have full lines of engineers working the whole production line to to commission it in 3 months if its drawn (its not is my assumption).

I have always expressed m doubt at price Vs spec and knowing what it costs to get these parts made in for just a suspension system and they are talking + engine + chassis + vehicle covers + 7 air bags + airconditioning.

Say if you applied the $100 rule, some of these components will not cost $100 and some of these will lots more that $100.

Try and list out ever component you can list individually in their machine.

so before assembly I'm pretty sure you exceed the $6800 mark.

I'm not saying its not going to happen I dont think the spec and the price match up. I dont think they are close to production. I hope they find that Angel Investor.

I have personal issues with the machine and Iv stated those elsewhere but its a machine that wont affect me in Australia and with a stering wheel and a seat instead of a straddle seat it wont meet motorcycle requirement oh and it has to total less than a meter wide, but Australia is not a bifg enough market for anyone but if you make them less than a meter you can fit them two across a lan in peak hour traffic and thats where cities will get involved in loving the concept and maybe even sponsor development and a an outlet.

That article by Jo Barras who claims some expertise in some type of vehiocle building has NO idea about trikes, Y Trikes and even quadricycles either planar and especially not leaning vehicles. The worst piece of trash publication and sensationalism with no substance and absolute lies at to his own credibility in building vehicles. He was a shocker.

Hope we hear some good news for Elio for the sake of people who put money down but thats the only reason for me, I dont think its a good vehicle and the bit I have read gives me no reason to think its near production startinglet alone their being a production network, the problems or logistics just havent been identified let alone rectified.

Finger crtosed for Spyderlovers members.

In my opinion the Elio is not a trike, nor is it a motorcycle. It is a car. The cheapest car in the world is a Tata Nano with a price of about $3,000. The attached article seemingly states that to enter the US market the price will be more like $8,000. I fail to understand how Elio can beat the price points of ALL of its competitors. It seems to me, if it were possible to do this one of the big competitors would offer some kind of a new car for less than $10,000.:chat:

perhaps I'm just over thinking this...:dontknow:

...but I just found this:
