• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2013 St-S stereo questions

I have a 2013 St-S and am thinking about adding the factory stereo kit from BRP. Has anyone installed this kit and is it fairly strait forward to install. How is the sound quality of the system, and can you add the XM kit to it. I am just wondering if the BRP kit is worth the money or if there are better aftermarket systems.

My dealer said it was not an easy install. I'm happy with the sound although I have to go back because it cuts out for periods of time.

Since I got my BT headset I never listen to the bike radio/iPod. I have my playlist on my phone all 8gig of it and use Winamp. The system actually sounds pitiful to me and you can't hear it much above 45mph with a helmet on. If it gets too noisy I can turn up my BT and it sounds great. I think it would be a waste. It only cost me $80 shipped for my 2 sets.

There are lots of options. Both wired and wireless. Search Sena, and Scala G9 for example. As far as XM goes there are options there too. Quality of sound will depend a lot on the quality and type of helmet you wear. There are many posts here. Searching should answer many of your questions. If you have time.

My unit automatically adjusts the volume depending on background noise. Have no trouble hearing it even at 55 mph.

Radio

If you have a smart phone or iPod, save some money and get a Bluetooth headset. Then play your own music or get a radio app on your smart phone.

That must be an aftermarket system because BRP's only is speed adjusted not noise sensitive. That being said to be loud enough for me to hear it has to almost blow the speakers out on my 2013 RT at 55mph. And the speakers are cheap and have no bass just distortion if I adjust the bass up in the settings. Now if I did ride without a helmet I would be able to hear them OK I guess. Not worth the money to have installed IMHO. If it came with the bike (mine did) it is ok for cruising the beach which is the only time I use the system.

It came from BRP and it probably does adjust to speed, that being said I'm happy with the sound and the ability to hear it..
