RT passenger audio control

So just what is the passenger supposed to be able to control on an RT with rear audio controls? I think mine is not working correctly. All she appears to be able to control is the station/iPod selection and not the volume. Is her volume button supposed to control just her speakers/ both speakers or none at all. Right now it is none.

I believe the passenger volume only works for the optional BRP intercom system. $$$

Found it in the owners manual pps: It controls the headset volume IF you have the BRP installed system...well duh.:thumbup:

True, it only controls the volume in the passenger's headset. The intercom and CB are one kit, plus the Entertainment Harness is required in addition to the kit. The entertainment harness has one headset jack (the rear, I believe) while the intercom/CB kit has the other headset jack. Crazy and unnecessary difficulty installation required. BRP screwed themselves and their customers by making the Intercom/CB so hard to install. Lot's of missed sales I would guess.

And for most, the Bluetooth system works better and easier for intercom anyway. The volume control buttons don't work for that either. For most, those buttons are useless. Too bad, poor design.

Blue tooth CB is easily accomplished on the Spyder. You can have the Spyder Bluetooth Dongle installed (easiest but can be done by you) and then purchase the Sena SR10 with proper cable for your chosen portable CB. I do this now on my bike. Not as "sexy" as having it installed but much much cheaper. BTW, the J&M antenna is best either way you go.

I have the BRP CB/Intercom system that I installed on my 2010 RTS. I also have a Zumo 550 GPS with XM radio, which I use all the time. Currently it runs through the Spyder's AUX input to make it usable. I am getting a ton of electrical noise now, which may be due to older sparkplug wires, as the problem has increased with time. I have the Baha Ron replacement wire set, but haven't yet installed them. I would also like to integrate my cellphone into the mix, so Bluetooth would seem to be the ticket. The drawback to the Zumo 550 is that the Bluetooth system on it is mono, not stereo, so I'll have to run it out of the Zumo's cradle speaker output jack and through the bike's audio system to get stereo.

If you can instruct me on how to pull the Zumo with XM (stereo), CB & cellphone together into a Bluetooth setup, I'd be grateful.

If you want to turn the rear speakers volume up or down use the fader control on the audio screen.

Solved that with my Chinese BT set .I have mine paired to my phone (and playlist) and she has hers done too. Works great and I can listen as loud as I want to except when she wants to talk on the inter com with it and interrupts my tunes :gaah:

I have often wondered why on a touring bike like the RT series they didn't try to do a better job with the factory audio system? On my 02 Goldwing it was the simplest "plug-n-play" system ever. The factory Honda radio had some issues but was easy to get repaired, but everything worked as you "thought" it should.

Me and my little girl were riding one day, and she changed the FM preset on me. She said she hit the left and right buttons to do it. She cranks the volume up on me at lights, just has a blast as a pillion. I couldn't figure out half the controls, but she certainly did.
