• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Anyone know about removing the front shock's ? I what to remove them so I can get the springs and hardware chromed and powder coat the shock's. I need to know if they have a lot of tension on them. Don't want to lose a finger or damage any thing in the removal process.

There is no trick to it. Jack up the front end so the wheels are off the ground and undo the 4 bolts, one top and one bottom of each. Removing the plastic cover each side helps but you don't need to take the nose off.

Shocks removed

Thank's MRB. What plastic panel should be removed? Is it the one that surrounds the shock? Upper and lower panels.

The one that covers the top of the shock. It houses the headlights (optional foglights in the US). Undo one torx screw (unscrew the centre panel to access) - the panel has two plastic rivets at the top front (each side of the trunk lid) and one plastic rivet underneath. Just pop them out with a flat bladed screwdriver. Its all real easy just make sure the front wheels are off the ground.
The bottom shock bolt is easy to get to.
The picture below is highligting the reservoir on the Elka shocks but you can see how it looks with the panels off to access the top bolts.

Thank's again for your help. I have all the panels off already because I am having lots of chrome done and painting of some panels. So I see what your talking about. I love spyder lovers .com
