• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Weekend at the Tail of the Dragon

Spent last weekend riding my RT Limited at the tail of the Dragon. The Spyder did just ok on the twisties. I was a little surprised that I only saw 2 other Spyders the whole weekend. What I did see was a ton of Harley's.
Harley's were the rule for the weekend. Kind of felt out of place riding my Spyder. Unfortunately on Saturday afternoon a car went left of center and hit 2 motorcycles killing both. They were brothers riding together. Very sad. If you get a chance to ride the Dragon, please be careful. The next several weeks they say is going to be wall to wall people.

Leaf-peepers, I presume? Or rallies?

When I rode it at the Owner's Event, I made extra sure to get there super-early. Me and the GF left the house in MV at 6 am, skipped the group riding altogether, and incredibly had the entire road to ourselves at 8 am on a Friday. THAT was the way to ride the Dragon.

I can't imagine riding that road on a weekend afternoon, trapped in a parade of horribles...

Saw a few :spyder2:'S over here in Townsend. Met some fellow Spyder Lovers as well. Sent one couple the long way around to the Dragon since the Parkway was deemed to be un-important to the government.

Blue Ridge Pkwy, facilities closed but roadway open....

Is the BRP roadway open as their press release indicated?
Government Shutdown Forces Closure of Blue Ridge Parkway Facilities

Asheville, NC – Because of the shutdown of the federal government caused by the lapse in appropriations, the National Park Service (NPS) has closed all 401 national park units, including the Blue Ridge Parkway. All visitor facilities including all NPS Visitor Centers, historic sites, park hotels, restaurants, campgrounds, picnic areas and restrooms – except for the main motor road, a thru way – are closed. These park facilities will remain closed until the government reopens.

An open Parkway is a safe Parkway.

However, facilities and services including all visitor centers, lodging, camping, interpretive services and restrooms along the Blue Ridge Parkway and other national park areas will remain closed during this time. National Park Service forced the privately owned Pisgah Inn to close. Rangers were ordered to close gates on the Parkway that led to the Inn. The owners were threatened with arrest if they failed to comply.
