video of Motorcycle gangs in NY .....

the car

I have to wonder what part the SUV driver had to do start with ?? Not that the bikers did right either. I have to wonder if he did not force his way into a stream of motorcycldes on the road and hit a motorcycle first. Their was a big ride going on.
What would you do if a vehicle hit a friend of yours and kept going ???????
I have been way to many scenes as a Law Enforcement person to go with only one side of the story

watch the vid around the 15 second mark on and you will see the bikes rode up on the suv and the biker in the black vest said something to the suv, i'm thinking he told the driver to move over and at that point he pulls in front of the suv and comes to a stop, i think the suv rear ended him and that started everything

The idiot that hit the skids was trying to toy with the SUV. He was lucky he was in the state of NY, if he'd been in Montana, of Wyoming, one of them country boys might have emptied their six gun, and been reloading before he hit the ground. That was a planned incident to incite a driver. You don't "accidentally" hit the brakes then look back to see how close you can get. I have little problem with the driver taking evasive action, the bike rider was trying to create a rear end collision, which in most states is automatically the fault of the vehicle in the rear. I would find no fault with the SUV. Further, with that many bikes trying to catch him they would be in a sad state when a dozen or so were "nudged" off the road. Alas, the SUV will probably be charged with fleeing the scene of an injury accident. The guy on the bike clearly was baiting to SUV, which says much about the common sense he doesn't possess. I would never pull that kind of on my sidecar rig which may tip the scales up around 900-1,000 pounds, the stability of a sports bike in an impact like that would be crazy.

I do have a question since guns were brought up. What would happen if the driver of the SUV had a gun and pulled it out and someone or more than one in the biker group pulled out theirs and started firing?
A lot of folks would have needlessly been hurt...

Saw that too the first viewing. I don't think the biker told the SUV to move over though, (there were bikes passing on both sides) but to slow down until the pack passed. Thats why he put his bike in front of the SUV and slowed down, trying to get the cage to do the same. Why the SUV didn't slow down? Only the driver knows...

Have seen it done before and it works to keep the pack back together. The car slows down and the pack passes. Not safe, but they do it.

He called 911 to report erratic driving...So i would say it wasnt his fault aside from doing the right thing.:banghead:

Wait a minute! So when did the driver call 911? When he drove over the first biker (and caught air going over a couple other bikes), or when he figured out he screwed the pooch?

All he had to do at the beginning of this sadness is 1; turn off the cruise control, or 2; hang up the phone.

Sorry, but you have to be aware of your surrounding, no if ands or buts. Don't care what you drive or how much your worth...

Yazz

When your family is threatened (real or perceived) you do what you gotta do, no reason to beat a man like that especially in front of his family. they could have held him for the police, no reason to beat him to the ground like that

Wow I can see how this is controversial.

Let me just say this. Based on the video it appeared a biker was trying to force the SUV to stop. That's where the first incident happened.
WHY? That maybe the root of the question.

BUT.... NO FREAKIN WAY is a group like that going to try and stop me and for WHAT reason? To Rob or kill me?
If I did nothing wrong other than piss someone off, there is NO REASON to try and stop me like that biker tried to do in the video.
I would fear for my life and want to go as well. It's the "fear of a MOB" that would make me do that especially if I am protecting a wife and kid!

If there was an accident without "the MOB scene", I think this would have been MUCH DIFFERENT!

I will just say this. All we have is that video. We don't know what happened before it. But based on the video, sorry.... My opinion is that group WAS A GANG LOOKING FOR TROUBLE!

My .00000002 cents.

Oh and if I had a gun when they broke my window in, trust I would have used it.

Bob

It appears that many of them dont have thier liscence plates. I am sure they were just out for a group ride and not looking for trouble.

and the big bad wolf did not want to harm little red riding hood

Agreed... yet again all we have is that video. But it is telling enough in my opinion that they were bullying anything on the road.

Sorry.... But that's how I see it based on the only evidence we have, the video.

May be a good video for group rides on WHAT NOT TO DO!

The majority of those bikes had no license plates .... reason ... you can,t tell the cops who they were. Pure Thugs. and Bullies.

What we didn't see was what happened in the beginning. The SUV obviously stopped after the first incident. To me, that pretty much proves his intent. Then something happened and fearing for his life, got the heck out of there. Punks have amazingly large cajones in packs. Regardless of who is at fault. The guys on the bikes are all punks. If we behaved similarly on our group Spyder rides, I'd say the same thing.

Based on the video anyway. But based on that... They were looking for trouble, found a client, and made it happen.

It did not have to go down that way... But you have to ask yourself. If in a well organized group ride, what happens if a A-hole decides to cause trouble for everyone else?
I have been in a group ride with SRA-LA and we had a lead rider and a trail end rider watching the pack and helping with safety. But what does a large group do when one persons decides to cause trouble?

I actually could see a "wolf pack" mentality if something happened making people think..... "we have a hit and run driver let's go get him" attitude?

Rereading the story. Quote "The bikers were hogging the northbound lanes." Might it be possible the Suv driver decided to nudge/scare them out of his way ? Attitude ???? Two sides again.
If you get a copy of Rider for this month mag this month. The Hollister story is in it.

arrest

one arrest was made in the case, one of the bikers broke 2 legs and the police knew they were coming, they wanted to go through the city but the NYPD stopped them so they went on the west side highway. the driver of the SUV had no charges set on him but they are saying he left the scene of a accident so they are looking into it

Logic would tell you that a reasonable man that has his family with him would not delberately provoke a large group of rowdy people, the video shows one of the bikers pulling in front of the SUV and brake checking him, it appears to be that the bikers were playing the role of BAD AZZ bikers. These were a bunch of crotch rocket street racers, not Harleys & Goldwings etc. just a bunch of hooligans out causing trouble. I personaly hope that the assaulters are arrested and prosecuted. I also think that other bike clubs in NY will suffer because of the actions of these thugs.
