Mounting Gadgets 'n STUFF

I'm looking for mounting options for mounting gadgets and other stuff to the stock handle bars on the Spyder? The Kewlmetal Center Console w/various accessory mounts looks interesting but starting at $200 and up I know there has to be a cheaper and easier way to mount things like GPS, cup holder, and/or satellite radio, etc. for those of us that are currently monetarily challenged.

I've mounted my Garmin GPS on my right handlebar using a few basic RAM components. The small plastic band can be easily removed with a knife and allows space for the RAM U-bolt mount.

Then . . . use your imagination.

Depending on the GPS, it may already come with a mount that works for the Spyder. The Garmin Zumo series are made for motorcycles and come with a RAM handlebar mount. I have the Zumo 450 and its mounted just like the one in Stuart49's picture. dltang has a Lowrance XOG, very economical and it came with a suction cup base that stuck very securely to her windshield. Over 1,000 miles traveled with the GPS mounted there.

I knew the black band came off, but wasn't so sure how easy it would be and if was there for other than cosmetic reasons. Coming from a Wing, Wingers (both current and ex) are very familiar w/RAM mounts.

I currently have a Garmin 2610 and am seriously considering the Zumo 550. opcorn:

I like the way that looks. When you're not using the items, it still looks "clean". Any more detail in how you mounted the mounts?

No big deal. At that point, didn't even remove the covers to drill and tap.

In approximately the same place as mine, drill a .205" hole, tap with a 1/4" x 20 tap, and screw in the RAM ball mounts.

There are casting webs beneath the cover for strength... I'll be glad to dig my old one out (if I can find it) and measure if you're serious.
