• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

New horns installed

I know a lot of you use Stebel horns but I went in a different direction. I got a set of AM80s horns for $15. The same "Freeway Blasters" that are used on Ford pickups. To make it worse I installed them without pulling off  one piece of Tupperware. They came wired together with a Ford plug but I tapped the wires to spade connectors. I popped the buttons around the frunk and removed the cover from the fuse/ jumper cover. I then stuffed a couple of towels into both ends to spread it and voila there is the horn. I was going to modify the bracket that they came with but after I got the old Road Runner one out it actually had 2 brackets on top of each other so I simply bent one so the one horn fits exactly like stock and the other is on top off set into the large cavity. I do not have fog lights on my RT so this would need a little more creativity on one of those but still doable if you put the second one on a longer bracket.. They work great, no relay needed. The hardest part was getting the screw back in it was tough getting out too one of the tightest mounting screws I ever saw and with less room with another horn in the way I had to use a 1/4 socket so it took a while it is very long. I could see how a little creative bracket making could mount a Stebel in the same way and area there is a lot of room inside that area and access to jumper points for the power to the relay and leads from the horn to operate it.. Pop the rivets and take a look at your horn. The boss didn't even know I did it (see what time it is I am in stealth farkle mode):roflblack::roflblack: Tomorrow I get my DOT C2 red reflector tape to put into the HMTL and lower fender area another stealth mission.... HMTL? We don't got no HMTL, we don'd need no stinkin' HMTL. We got 500 candle power reflectors.

Very nice..!!

looks or sounds like it worked out well. Always little snafu's but all in all it is done. Good luck with the tape, but that we have to see...:nopic:...

Here a couple of pics. If you look close you can see the sweat I left last night;). If you have the fogs you might be able to use the bracket that comes with it I intended to do that I had already cut and bent it and took the old one out to mark and drill the hole for the mounting screw. That would have made them side by side sorta and possibly below the fog light. But since there were already 2 brackets with holes in them I saved the drilling time. P8220010.jpgP8220011.jpgP8220012.jpg

That's a tight workspace!
And it reminds me of a story...
An obstetrician was getting tired of the same old thing every day, so he diecided to got to one of those motorcycle mechanic schools...
The courses were interesting, and the time in the shop fascinated him...
Then it was time for the final exam.
Fifty percent of the grade was from a written test, and the other fifty percent came from shop work.
He sailed through the written portion, and then found out that he had to rebuild a motorcycle engine under the watchful gaze of an instructor.
He thought that it all went pretty well...
When the grades were being posted; his wasn't!
This concerned him, so he went to his advisor to make an inquiry.
"You passed with flying colors!" was what he heard, and was told that his final exam score was 150!
Now; he was a pretty smart guy, so he asked how he could get such a score...
"My boy, in all of our years here giving these courses; we've never had anybody rebuild the engine by reaching up through the tailpipe!"

It is not as tight as you think I could open it a little more and I easily fit the horns and 2 arms through it depends on how many towels you stuff into then ends. Only tough thing was that dam bolt even when you get it started you can only get 1 or 2 threads because it is so tight. When you start tightening it you think you are cross threading it. :yikes:

LOUDER HORN

Or you can turn the OEM horn around so it faces FORWARD instead of Backwards and it's quite loud..............COST $ priceless :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:.....actually just some time and a small bracket..........Mike...................and the OEM horn when turned this way is appears to be just as waterproof . I was at S.I.T.A. last year and in the TORRENTIAL RAINS we had it worked fine......

My lower one actually has a large cut out in the bottom that it goes out. The upper one may be an option to do that I thought about it.

One last tip. There are 2 little plastic pins on the tunnel that must go inside the Tupperware or you will get water inside the cavity. I just had to go out and pop the rivets and fiddle to get then back in the right spot inside the panel. I also tried turning the top horn and it changed the sound and made it quieter ( muddy sound) so that is a no go.
